    Hey ya'll,

I was banned on BF3 on march 8 for multihack 79551. I appealed but even balance and Punkbuster say it was a legit ban. I have never cheated nor see the point of cheating so this sucks. Doing some research it seems many others have been banned and were not cheating. I sucked at the game compared to most but loved it so I definitely wasn't hacking.

Not sure if its permanent but has anyone here suffered the same fate?

Also how can I go about getting unbanned, any ideas like contacting EA maybe.

    My first thoughts.

    Stop cheating!!

From what i have seen it's pretty cut and dry.

Were you running some kind of enhancer in the background?

Negative no enhancers. Built this new rig just for this game :(.

I did end up turning off the post-processing AA (FXAA I think).

Could that have caused a problem?

Didn't DICE acknowledge that there was something going on with accounts being hacked or something and getting banned.

How did you go about doing that ?

In game menu. it's an option. there is deferred and post processing the latter just blurrs the scene its mean for weaker videocards that cant do the 4xMSAA.

I did appeal just like it told me in that post but to no avail. just a copy pasted message back to me.

No, ingame AA modes shouldn't affect anything. However if you use Inject FXAA or Inject SMAA, it is a possibility since they inject their own data to enhance edge smoothness. But crappy anti-cheat systems might detect it as cheat even though it's not and you don't get any advantage apart from not seing horrid jaggies all over the screen. I once contacted Valve if i should worry about Inject SMAA and VAC and all they could response was "We don't support 3rd party stuff". Well FU, how hard is it to say if i should be worried or not, it's not a freakin cheat. I mean how hard is it to say, no, you won't get banned because of that or yes, you might get banned. So i was forced not to try my luck and just play without any FSAA or with crappy multisampling... so lame.

    Just an opinion...

However, it looks as though PB screwed something up relating to Even Balance violations.
Looks to be an excessive amount of MULTIHACK #79551 violations that day.
They all seems to be in the evening, like 3 to 7 pm midnight or so.
Then, not nary a one after that.

If, I were them, I would be wondering... What happened at that point in time.
They may want to look to see, if, they might have been punked, themselves.

You should tell them to re-instate you, as you were not cheating and from the data you have it had to be a false positive caused by some un-seen (at-this-time) glitch, error or other.

Also, you may want to look to others for possible legal remedies as a group, if found to be the fault of PB or others and they refuse to re-instate.

    Info:
To all Multihack #79551 ban victims

Master Ban Index - View All Bans

    Just my opinion.
    Goodluck.:)

Edit: Seems to have a longer time period... to around midnight or so. See here> GGC Stream

I'm with flib on this one. Users are banned in error sometimes, but the companies really don't like to admit it and would rather the user remains banned than admit it and have it corrected. Gives them an easier life at the expense of their users, I guess.

I saw on the BBC's Watchdog consumer program a while back where a family's XBOX 360 got banned for no reason. When they appealed, Mickeysoft were adamant that they were in the right and also wouldn't elaborate on what the specific infraction was.

After various appeals and pressure, Mickeysoft eventually admitted their error and reinstated the xbox, however, the family had already bought another xbox, so M$ were quids in on this one.

Thanks for the help guys. I have work today but off tomorrow that will give me time to re-appeal and see how other people are approaching this. Last night I played on a ranked non-punkbuster server and had a good time. I will take ya'lls advice and keep fighting this, just sucks since i worked my ass off to build these machines so I can play this game all out and then get banned for no reason. I just wish companies like PB and even balance had better support this might turn into a nightmare.

There's your problem. A ban occurred while not on a punkbuster server means either the server admin is forcing bans, or your PBID was stole nas used by a hacker, similar to what happened on GCC servers a while ago.(nevermind ,I failed to realize you said you got banned o nthe 8th, and played lastnight. I need SLEEP!)

Frankly, I won't play on a server without PB enabled, and I try to avoid GCC servers if possible. Server admins have access to far too much data for this game, such that I'm quickly losing interest. If this becomes an issue, and I myself get banned(I'll never cheat, I see no point)...I'll just never use a punkbuster-based product ever gain. Ain't no thing to not play online for me! Lots of SP games out there!

Wow dude I didn't even think about that. I always played on PB servers but last night I tried one without to get my fix :p. But your right that could only make things worse, even though this server seemed to be made for falsely accused people. Damn I wish I didn't like BF3 so much. Tomorrow I will do my best get get the ball rolling on resolving this and if it turns out that its permanent and will not be lifted then I am 100% with ya dave, done with punkbuster/evenbalance and EA will get a nasty letter from a very good customer and I will be looking into other games from other companies in the future. Diablo 3 can't get here soon enough.
