    hi all,

I'm planning to upgrade my system.

I have a q6600 quad core, mobo is gigabyte ga-p35-ds4.
Graphics is evga 8800gt, 512 mb. It's only pci-e, and
    so is the mobo.

I want to keep the mobo, and upgrade the cpu and
graphics. I'm looking at an evga 9800 gt with 1 GB
    memory. It's pci-e 2.0.

So the mobo only handles pci-e, but it does take
the new 45nm intel quad cores just fine. I'm
    going to get the q9650.

I care more about the 1Gb of memory than the
pci-e 2.0, but: how well is this going to work
    on my old mobo?

    Thanks!

PS: My PSU in an Enermax Infiniti, 650 watts.

It will all work fine. Unless you are using a top of the line high end video card PCIE 1.1 & 2.0 really makes no difference. You do realize that the card you are upgrading to is the same card that you have but with more RAM?

Yes, everything will work together. PCI-E 2.0 has minimal impact on performance.

Ah very good, thank you all.

yes I realize it's the same, but I want to give my b/f
    the 8800gt for his computer.
