Whats the best program for reading temps. i use nvidia system tools for cpu core, but not sure what program to use to get my mobo temps. Nvidia system tools also shows system temp at 33

Try AIDA64, everest until recently, i'll give you quite a bit of information about your whole system, and in the sensor section, you'll have all the sensor and voltages the program can collect.

dont be so fast to blame the nvidia chipset, my 750 FTW board will do 475 FSB with my Q9650(4.2 ghz). I did run a xeon 3220 in my board for alittle while and was able to get 3.6ghz. Give me a few mins to look at my bios, I'm pretty sure I can remember the voltages I ran for 3.6 on the xeon.

Taking out the 512 sticks didn't help the stability issue any. after about 15 min of occt test my computer still reboots itself. according to realtemp my max load temp is 48 degrees on one of my cores and 46 on my other 3 so no issue with cpu overheating.

Please post a "Memory" and "SPD" tab from cpuz when you get a chance. You can download it from www.cpuid.com

Also while your there, you can pickup HWMonitor for your temps.

If your specs are right, you're running a q9xxx penryn, and he's running a q6600. This means an important difference in the fsb voltages. The max limit is 1.45 with 45nm and 1,6 iirc with 65nm. I used to run my x3220 at 1,59v for 450 fsb.

yes my specs are right, I'm now have a q9650 in my 750 board. Like I said in one of my previous posts in this thread, I had a xeon 3220 before the q9650. On my board, the voltages are labeled in color, from gray(before factory spec),green(safe), and red(dangerous, possible damage from setting), 1.2 is the last setting in green for FSB voltage. Since I was going for a safe stable 24/7 OC, I know I didn't go above the 1.2 setting.
