I just got my q9550 in the mail and put it in and am currently running it. Its running alright but all of my temp monitoring programs (RealTemp, Everest, CPUMon, OCCT) show that core1 is stuck at 47c. The cores are core0=31c, core1=47c, core2=27c, core3=27c. 0, 2, and 3 all fluctuate but core1 is at 47 and doesnt move. Is this the sensor thats out, or is CPU1 dead?? I need a program that can individually monitor CPU usage. I used OCCT and have the screens fore each core respectively and they all show usage but the graphs are identical in the usage portion. The temperatures are different for each core and shows core1 at 47c the whole time.
    Is my CPU broke??

I'd doubt that your CPU core is dead. Now it's very possible that your sensor in that core has failed.

Are you having any random crashes, etc?

Nope no crashes. Ran a successful OCCT stress test for 5 min. All settings are stock. Are there any programs you know of that can monitor Core usage in realtime?

Stuck sensors are somewhat common. Just use the other core readings as a baseline for the core with the stuck sensor. Windows Task Manager reads core usage in real time.

My q9550 is exactly the same, it's been that way for nearly a year, it moves only while stress testing, then after stress testing it goes back down to same temp, I'm not worried about it at all.
My core 1 is the one that sticks.

    Don't worry about it

Jesus I completely forgot that Task manager has those neat little graphs. Yeah Im running OCCT right now and it shows all cores in use. *whew* I was about to get real pissed. So is there anyway to get these sensors unstuck? What kind of temp does core1 usually relate to? Is it close to core0?

I cant say I have this problem with mine, though I had had this very same issue with both my (long gone) E8400 & E8500 and it doesn't effect anything.

    Don't worry about it. :toast:

Core 0 and 1 should have similar temps, same goes for cores 2 and 3. My old Q9550 had a sensor that would not go below 35C :D I dont think there is a way to repair them, but like people have said, there is no problem with having one stuck.

Alright sweet. Just passed a 20 min session of OCCT. Now time to start pushin to see how far it'll go!

Any chance you all with Q9550 E0 stepping can post some of your voltages to help me out. And if you have the same MOBO as me some of your NB voltages as well. Acid I sent you a pm since we have the same mobo. Ive hit a wall at 3.95 @ 1.33 and im trying to get up to 4.3-4.6.

the 45nm core 2's are notorious for stuck sensors. its no matter really. core 0 and 1 are together and 2 and 3 are together
