Ok so my Ex-Wife tried to upgrade her RAM last night and has somehow killed her 1156 P55 board(Black slots won't post, Blue Slots I get "the Beeps")

So she wanted some more horsepower anyway for BF3 so I'm going to order a 2500K/Z68/RAM bundle and flip it out.

I know it has been discussed before but can I get away with not reinstalling Windows again(She will be going crazy enough without her PC for a few days) Is there any "tricks" to it. I know back in the XP days I used to flip all the chipset drivers etc for generics.

Any tips/advice is welcome. I mean I can of course reinstall Windows if needed but its a couple hours extra work, she is my Ex-Wife afterall...

Bad idea. Even just swaping a motherboard for the exact same of its kind invokes the fury of the computing gods. It will never run as it should without a fresh install.

I mean I know better and can get get it up and running with all her programs under 2hrs but I have never pushed my luck with Win 7 so I thought I would get some input. It's for the best anyway or else the fury of the computer gods would bite me on the ass and I would be over there fixing crap for weeks.

Indeed...We are on good terms obviously or else I wouldn't do it for her but yes she has no patience when her PC isn't working...
