there is nothing wrong with DDU when used properly ...
You have your own opinion on DDU and I have mine

Safe mode, up your arse mode  , any mode you want, I believe it "is a problem"... sure it can work, and it does somewhat work, but user beware!

I once recall having weird artifacts and triangles popping up after a hard OC session and even when doing a default I still had the same problems.
After I removed all overclocking software and registry entries plus "the right way of removing an AMD driver" I had fixed the problem.

I still have issues with both msi AB and Trixx on occasion with crossfire but thats when overclocking. I have my fun for the night then remove the programs and never have any issues.

Ours, i remember their being a thread on here not to long ago and all users who had used DDU had issue's.

I would guesstimate that there are a good bit more than half that visit this forum using AMD GPUs. There is almost always a good bit more people viewing the AMD forum versus the Nvidia forum. Not scientific but imo a good enough indication.

Probably just more AMD users requiring assistance.

OP may have just got very unlucky with a bad batch. Are the memory modules cooled either by the main cooler or ram sinks? If not, they could have just gotten too hot and degraded over time.

you all have been talking about heat.. but howcome if i already told that the max temps i have monitored were nothing above 74~ is this some kind of critical temperature?
flickers started in a really random moments. it could start after 1 minute of game opening, it could start after 2hours of normal gaming session. flcikers have some kind of weird randomness in my system. i guess i got not the ugliest ones.

Yup I see where your going with this and either way a 860 just don't cut it.. when a PSU starts to act up theres alot of weird shit that can happen and not necessarily a crash or the power shut off.

Id say PSU or a board issue, I also seen DDU was used
I shall speak no more on that program :p

I just skimmed the thread and pieced this and that together but like Tatty said, 3 cards bad? whats the chances!

I just finished with MSI on 2 R9 290's rma and had 2 bad cards but I raised my voice and let it be heard that Im not putting up with their shit and in the end they fixed the problem.
If I were the OP id just ask for an UPGRADE plain and simple.

EDIT: yeah DDU imo is a problem and has the OP done a clean OS install?
i have swapped between 2 motherboards..
i have 3 cards, but for casual usage i was using only 2 of them.
several os installs.

There is more to it heat than core temps... Perhaps the vrm is getting too bot?

as i said, will see what they can offer. as far as i know, cards have reached their store, so its all about time, when i will hear something from them. i can imagine, how angry i will become if they wont discover anything. i was clever enough to add details, what have been tried and when flickers appear. i hope they will investigate them completely. as far as i know, almost 3/4 of people having these cards suffering the same as me. in this thread there was some person who added link to amd support forum, and lot of people were complaining about this issues. still unexplainable, how come i got all cards in a state of failure.
thanks for all who tried to solve this and helped me.

http://ec.europa.eu/justice/consumer-marketing/index_en.htm
here are some links including all rights i got as a buyer.

there is information given by moonstick2 from tomshardware. i found it really helpful.

"As a resident of an EU country purchasing from another EU country, http://europa.eu/youreurope/citizens/shopping/shopping-... is relevant, which is an EU directive very similar to the UK Act I've referred to above. So it looks like you are entitled to insist that the seller repair or replace the cards free of charge (they have to pay all collection and shipping costs) and if they can't do that, you are entitled to a refund of what you paid for them.

With regard to replacement, your only entitlement would be to the exact same model, and in the same way their only choice for a replacement would be the exact same model - you can't insist on something different, and in the same way they can't insist that you take e.g. a 280X of a different make. Of course taking a different card as a replacement is an option if both you and they agree.

You can insist on a refund if the time taken to repair/replace is unreasonable. I was in a similar position some years back. Long story short: £200 card failed after seven months -> returned to retailer -> retailer needed five weeks to test/send card for repair -> card came back to me, still failed and no evidence of repair -> returned card to retailer demanding refund -> retailer insisted right to repair again -> told retailer they'd taken too long and gave 21 days before legal action (genuine threat since small claims in UK, so cheap and practical, no lawyer required) -> retailer still insisted they had right to repair -> told them thanks for the email, you've 14 days left -> retailer gave me full refund -> never used retailer again to this day.

It may be your retailer is more helpful, although their suggestion to downclock is as ridiculous as a car dealer thinking it's okay to tell someone with a new car that has a faulty gearbox just not to use fifth gear. They may very well insist on trying to replace the cards and if so you'll have to at least try the replacements, but make clear if they develop faults too that you'll be expecting a full refund. If they offer non-Sapphire 280X replacements you don't have to take them."

i will take this thread updated as i got some more information.

I really hope there are lot of people like me who suffers the same as i do. i hope they will find this thread sooner or later and i will help them to make a best decision what to do with a flickering card, and find useful my kind of expierance of this process. (as i looked through the pages, never found anything like this)

Well, you just should have bought the cards locally, yes they would have been a bit more expensive, but you would have saved a lot of time! Time is money you know.

P.S. My 280X is running fine :p

as i wanted to continue this thread, there are no updates about rma process. still, its already 3/4 a month gone, but no replies from them (funny, when you realize 2months of 2years warranty are spent not even touching them - ITS 1/12 of period!!!) as far as i know, they are at them for more than a week.
my latest thoughts are to focus on gtx 970 or 980, if i may afford 980 item.. when i will got replacement cards, i will sell them for sandwich, and not ever again taking a sight on amd (no nvidia-fan-boyism though, just a big disappointment). sadly i am not dreaming about getting refund anymore. i am really regreting that i didnt ship them back when there was a `6-month-money-refund-policy`, it was in summer period, so i didnt use it at all.

while i was using GPU-Z i monitored my temps never going above 75 degrees.
primary PCI-E card was having 75degrees max while furmarking.
secondary PCI-E card was having 65degrees max while furmarking.

under heavy gaming, on crossfire it never hit above 72-74 degrees. on both scenarios (xfire and single)

i have tried adding voltage, with no success. i have tried switching all cards to 100% fan speed default, but still nothing.

my setup: i7 4790k 4.7ghz, 16gb of corsair vengeance 1600mhz, ASUS HERO VII z97 and MPower Z97, Ax860 corsair powersupply, samsung pro 850 256gb ssd, corsair h105 water cooling.

card itself: SAPPHIRE TRI-X R9 280X 3GB GDDR5 OC VERSION

Just so you know Corsair fibbed and the 860i is a dual 12v rail PSU here is the info from a article i read about a ASUS x99 Deluxe VRM cooking and killing the board VRM and $1000 CPU
Here is the whole story including how Corsair switched to a dual rail system and dates when they updated the firmware on there PSU's down near the bottom of the article, also you should probably install corsair link software and give the whole article a good read. here is a quote from the PSU part.
Corsair switched to a multiple rail design for the power supply series in 2013 (previously unknown to us). This is obviously a significant difference in the design of the power supply. We also learned that the earlier single rail power supplies did not have OCP enabled by default. One would have to install the Corsair Link Software package and manually set the OCP limits manually for that to function on the earlier models. We were not using the Corsair Link Software on the test bench
Maybe if it is new enough you can return it and if you can get a real single rail PSU since it seems Corsair fibbed it seems

What would moving to a single rail PSU accomplish with this guy? flickering isn't a sign of a lack of power...

it would take me 15m over teamviewer to fix the problem
there is nothing wrong with his cards he has a software issue thus hes not gonna get a RMA
I gave him instructions on how to fix the problem either he didn't do it right or hes done so much poking about with the drivers that the fix I gave him will no longer work ..

update!
yesterday, my cousin called me and told that cards are on the way to Latvia. i am so furious, he didnt even called them to discuss. am i was wondering, shouldnt they inform me before pack them and ship back? some strange situation going on, as all of the faulty items i have got during 3 past years when bought i my native place (motherboards, cpus, etc), they firstly called me to tell the condition of item they figured out and suggestion what to do. sadly, i guess, all turned out as a replacement (same cards) or fixed bios. still, i am asking for full money refund of my cousin who got me these faulty cards, as i am not looking forward for them.

youngsters, be awared what to buy, you have been warned, and if you realise something is wrong with the item, dont be lazy (as i was, not paying attention to flickers, so i lost my 6-months full refund policy) and dont wait for miracles. shoot them straight forward to shop where you have bought them to fight your your rights. amen
