R9 290X Eyefinity (VGA)

Ok i was contemplating going eyefinity with some monitors i already but it didn't dawn on me that the R9 290 (X) no longer supports VGA and all the monitors i have are. Is it possible to use a DVI to VGA adapter and force analogue or am i screwed.

Screwed is a harsh word so more I'd say it's more like "unable."

Please note that the DVI outputs no longer support analog monitors. I just about a guy who used an external DAC since he was a crt user with his 290x, but I thought that would be worth it.

Although, I kinda think that the card needs to support analog in all directions, otherwise it wouldnt work.

You can try and split your displayport into three and connect your dp to vga to them.

You can look for a Matrox one, TripleHead2Go, in fact you can grab a used one for like 80 bucks. Its still a lot, but DP still comes at a price.

I have some of those but the wooX only has one displayport output

So.. what outputs are on the card? Have you tried just using whatever adapters you have available to make it work?

DVI to VGA would not work, especially if you have a reference card, as theyre all digital only.

I believe dp does provide an analog signal...

The card cantbprovide an analog signal via dvi. You might have to get an active adapter for dvi/ hdmi/display port.

That's why i asked that as the HDMI to VGA said it was active
