and on the account of the need more watts :it means nothing on you yearly electricity bill! (the "with AMD you need a nuclear reactor in your backyard and be a billionaire to pay the cost added by those HUGE amount of power they need to achieve the same as nvidia" is a cliché )

All credit to Nvidia for turning that cliché around so fast, although I'll happily admit double standards are delicious.

Beyond that both are fine cards, show me a game that is faster on one, and I'll show a game that is faster on the other.

"A bit more efficient"??

I'll leave this here:

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2015-amd-radeon-r9-390-8gb-review
Peak system draw 277W? Bullshit.

According to the review here on TPU, a GTX 970 under load draws ~188W.
If we believe Eurogamer's numbers, the entire system less GPU would be pulling under 100W with a 4.6Ghz CPU overclock.

This also means the oc'd 390 they tested is drawing around 400W, which isn't possible. A 12v PCI-e line has a maximum output of 300W.

We seem to be having a major communication breakdown for some reason and I'm pretty sure it's not on my end.

Performance comparison typical with both overclocked. Do you still contend the 290X is a great buy over a 290 when it has 5FPS advantage?

With who's overclocks? Some monkey with a camera making review vids? Yeah...sorry, those mean nothing to me. lol

if this holds true for DX12 performance, I don't see why anyone should still buy a 980 or 970 or 960. The only really good NV card in DX12 then, would be a 980 Ti, thats even faster than the Fury X. AMD cards are at <600€ the better ones right now, I'd say but lead supreme with their king, the 980 Ti. That said, I would buy a 380/380X at 200-250€, a 290X or 390 at 300€, a 390X at 400€ and at about 500-550€ a Fury Tri-X. Well, I trust in these benchmarks, and I could very well be wrong, but I don't think so. The GCN Hawaii GPUs (290/290X/390/390X) and Fiji GPUs (Fury + Fury X) are bottlenecked in DX11 - in DX12 they are freed and have good perf gains like with the Mantle API some time ago. Nvidia however isn't really bottlenecked so I don't see why they should gain any big performance leaps in DX12, whereas the AMD cards do in Ashes + Fable.

In DX11 however, they trade blows, so if your decision is strictly based on DX11, it depends directly on the game. But I wouldn't base a decision solely on DX11 now. The future is important too.
