good evening and thanks for any help given

the problem I am having is on my radeon r290x, as soon as I power on the pc (from bios) I have a white line down the middle of my screen. it seems to change once before it shows the windows logo(seems like X's randomly on screen;.

temps are normal and all other pc components are working with my gtx 660
has anyone suffered the same or know of what could be actually wrong with my gpu

Few things you could try if possible

Try another display
re seat and clean the PCI-e slot
Make sure the video cooler is free of any dust ( which cooler is on your card ? )
Try other PCI-E power connectors from the PSU

But to be honest sounds like a fault with the 290X, any chance it's under warranty still ?, if so get on the manufacture back about it and see what they say and see if you can get a RMA sorted out.

If the above recommendations yields the same "seems like X's randomly on screen". You most likely have a bad ram chip on the card. RMA if you can.

Sounds like it's faulty which i am sure you have come to that conclusion too. If under warranty and have the original cooler for it get that back on and RMA you may not want to let on that you had the cooler off.

Although i would have to try putting the default cooler on it and trying that for the sake of it. I hope the cooler change did not lead ( over tightening\bad cooling for other parts ) to the problem and was just one of those things.
