Check my sig for a CPUz screenie! What's in my specs is 24/7 running solid as a rock. If only I had better cooling, vcore and fsb control in my bios.

I'm a downright coward at CPU OC'ing after I melted an Athlon XP 2800+ (took it to 2.8 GHz before it melted and resembled a "black inside green fried egg".)

I still have to learn volt-modding and hope to take it to 2.93 GHz. The Zalman cooler is huge.

Melting eh? That's why we watch temps...
Probably shouldn't overvolt much in India.

That thing melted during the POST, when the AWD BIOS shows a table with the system info and "Verifying DMI pool data..."

Suddenly, it blanked out and a thick white smoke started coming out I pulled out the cord. I was freaked. Then later when I was doing the autopsy, I found the CPU area charred, the PCB looking like burnt toast, the ZIF-socket molten, the metal heatsink retention clip having fallen off, the heatsink hanging on the northbridge heatsink. the CPU, well, looked like a fried egg that has AIDS.

Yes, I did that in the summer when the ambient temp was 122 F, 60% humidity, conditions that would make you wanna show middle-finger to God. What was worse, I was using a stock-cooler.

But now I have my house centrally airconditioned, and a Zalman CNPS 9700, an all-solid-caps mobo and my Q6600 that's feeling horny.

WOW... 50C ambient... my CPU doesn'rt get that hot full load in a closed case with very little airflow (no case fans... just a PCI slot blower and PSU fans for now)

Yeah. I live in the hottest part of India. Not the desert part but the central part that's both hot and humid. I have close to 3 lbs of silica-gel sachets in my case ATM.
