I think I saw it once, not very pretty, but yet very effective
OK let's break this down, The 800 mhz ram is a choice as the phenom II can't run 1066 with all 4 memory slots full so PC1066 would have been a waste of money, because you can't run those clocks with 8gb anyway.
I know I'm running an old board but that's what makes my system special.
The 19 inch monitor, what can I say, it was a gift. and it's lots better than the CRT it replaced.
On the single 4870, the MB only has one PCIE x16 slot so this is a given.
Now About the cpu cooler, What do you mean "low end"? The typhoon in comparisons was better than or equal to such heavyweights as the Thermaltake Ultra 120, the Noctua 120, Freezer pro 7, it's good enough for me to be able to clock at 4 ghz on air at an ambient air temp of 78f. "low end" cooler my @$$.
the typhoon is nowhere near as good as those coolers. You rarely see it compared to the others in roundups, and it certainly never wins.
Here's my disgrace to look at. Keep in mind, my car builds are similar when it come to paying attention to looks. lol.
Gentlemen, prepare for disappointment. lol.
Here's one of those rare shootouts: http://www.hexus.net/content/item.php?item=8757&page=114 and http://www.hexus.net/content/item.php?item=8757&page=115
they are idle and load results from various coolers in an antec 900 case. under the same conditions.
i dont see the TRUE 120 or a xigmatek in that roundup.
its kinda easy to make a cooler a winner, if you dont submit results from the better coolers.
They dont have ANY of what i'd call high end coolers in that roundup - the cloest is the Thermalright ultra 120, but its not the extreme edition - its the TRU, not the TRUE
thanks wile e, i Had seen it before, but like I said, as long as its effective
Lol Wil E that's is CHAOS ! But very nice hardware you have there !
Still chicken patty got my 10/10.
I make some ugrade to my rig new RAM and ... Watercooling Coming soon !
OCZ Hydroflow HF-MK1 , OCZ Hydro Pulse 800, Black Ice ... And the rest is coming !
that is a top notch gaming PC, i give you a 9.5, id have to say even a 10 with water cooling
I have made quite a few changes to my rig since I last posted here, whaddya think?
8.5/10...Very nice build Love the Blu-Ray RW
thanks man and the story behind that blue ray RW drive is funny, my friends moms mobo fried and he brought it to me to fix it and I said it would be better to go buy another one cause it was such a shi*tty rig so they gave it to me for parts then when I stripped it down I found out it had a Blue-Ray RW drive haha MINE!
nice rig man solid 9/10
That's awesome, I wish I had a free Blu-Ray drive. I need to spend 70 bucks to get one
@SkyKast 9/10 thats a nice rig only thing that would make is better would be crossfire or a X2 card(4870x2 or GTX295) and a highly clocked quad core
@URB 8.7/10 nice rig i like that clock on your CPU nice GPU well balanced rig there and should play about everything maxed.overall great rig without breaking the bank
hows my rig hold up now 6 weeks into basic training?
9.3 / 10
Add another 4890. And the motherboard isn't the best you can get.
9/10 nice rig
8.5/10. You only have 3 gb of ram, a single 4890, air cooling, and no solid state. If you have 6Gb of ram you would get a 9 though.
you`ll get the 9, i only miss a crossfire with 1000mhz clocks ;-)
7.5 out of 10. Video card and hard drives are lacking. Plus your running on board sound.
1. 3GB of RAM is enough for any game.
2. A single OC'd 4890 is enough for any game @ 1920x1080
3. There is no need to waist money for 200$+ cooling system and a couple of degrees lower.
4. Solid state: price per GB? in the sky, money...
Any 9.3/10 for you. I have a HAF 932 you know...
I stand by my previous rating.
