Razer, the world’s leading manufacturer of high-end precision gaming and lifestyle peripherals, today announced the launch of a new suite of Razer Naga Special Edition gaming mice – the Razer Naga Maelstrom Special Edition and the Razer Naga Molten Special Edition.

“After the phenomenal response we received for the Razer Naga, we’ve decided to create two collectible versions to offer our fans even more ways to dominate their game,” said Robert “Razer Guy” Krakoff, president, Razer USA. “We took the same functionality of full button remapping and macro capabilities of the original Razer Naga and rejuvenated the aesthetic design for a more immersive MMO gaming experience.”

Upon its release, the original Razer Naga generated overwhelmingly positive reviews at Amazon.com and NewEgg.com like, “Finally, the mouse I've been waiting for! 5/5” and “If you play WoW, get this mouse. 5/5.” With almost all the users of the Razer Naga (based on online end user feedback at major online retailers) providing a positive review, the Razer Naga is the defining product that created the category of MMO gaming peripherals.

Razer is going one step further with the announcement of the Maelstrom Special Edition, inviting MMO gamers to submerge into the heart of the vortex. Featuring the same 17 MMO-optimized buttons with unprecedented macro functionality, this mouse has a whirlpool of entrancing blue light emanating from its swirling core.

In addition to the Maelstrom version, Razer also introduces the Molten Special Edition which glows a wicked and fiery red hue. Along with the lava-red fissures cutting a jagged path across the mouse, the MMO-optimized buttons glow a blazing crimson color. No matter what version you choose, with a Razer Naga SE you will Get Imba!

I asked the same question to myself. They already had blue, they added red, and the same blue? WTF? Add a green one with some green abstract thing on the back.

I hear from some who use it that it takes a while to get used to, but once you do it works like a dream. They must be lying cause when I tried, my thumb was hitting multiple buttons.

I love the look of the blue one but the amount of side buttons seams like too much for me, i'm sure 3 or 4 on the side would do and also from the picures i think my bear paw would just end up mashing about 3 of the side keys if i tryed to use it.

I'm sure if i was not a bear i would love one.... oh well

The side buttons are fine with the Naga. The first two rows you use with the tip of your thumb, the third and fourth(near back of mouse) you use with the joint[?] of the thumb.

Having said that... it is really a shame that the collectors editions aren't also a revision of the mice themselves so you get more than just a paint scheme. The third row on the side buttons could have been changed, in fact the whole layout would be best served if they extended the first row further forward, acting as a primary/optional row; the second row in place of the first as the primary/sweet row; the third would have slightly larger buttons and act as as secondary row, with less spring resistance engaged by the flat part of your thumb, and the last set would go towards the palm of the mouse, as a tertiary/reserve bank.

They also did not create/bundle any remapping software with the Naga. This is a massive oversight or undercut on their part, especially given what the whole purpose of this mouse is about.

I've never had the lights on any Razer mice turned on, so this is doubly useless for me.

Anyways this [IMG] + this [IMG] = lots of options.
