RealTemp or AI Suite 3?

Who should I believe?

< PC specs are current.

AI Suite says max 52ºC while doing a test. RealTemp says 63-72ºC.

Oh, sorry if the pic isn't clear. Check the timestamps. Asus AI Suite III said 52ºC while RealTemp (on Maximum down below) said 63ºC-72ºC.

The difference on the cores is because whatever I was loading it with (I think it was a game) was at 50% load and probably loading 2 cores mostly. With 100% load the max temp is 72ºC too (according to realtemp) but across all cores.

Asus Suite never went above 56-57ºC so far.

Package temps vs Core temps

No it was clear. AI suite 3 is a pos

That's why I said try Intel's software. It will show both if I remember correctly

So Real Temp wold be the one to use of the two

i have been using HW info for more tha a year, i used realtemp RC5 and temps were so inaccurate so i decided to keep my live monitoring on HWinfo,

Real temp shows you the temp from sensors inside your CPU.
AI suite shows you the temp from a sensor on the board close to the CPU. (this is what you get in the bios as well)

Real temp gives you what you want really, but that doesn't mean AI suite is wrong. Just keep in mind the sensor placement.

Okay, installed Intel XTU.
Did the stress test just to see the peak temp, 80ºC was the worse according to XTU. Consider today it's a hot 88ºF (31ºC) day.

I guess XTU/RealTemp/HWinfo are telling me what I really want. I need to change this crap of stock cooler. I know it's 20ºC away from thermal throttle, but coming from a Phenom II which had 71ºC listed max temp (according to AMD) this temps worry me a lot

I have the same issue with my RVE, AI suite always reports a temp that's on average 10 degrees lower than what HW monitor reports.

What gives?

Ok, just to stop my paranoia for a while I disabled Turbo features for now, max 68ºC on real-heavy-usage (down from 76ish).

Will have to wait a while for local shops to stock on coolers, only shitty ones on sale currently.

HWMonitor will show CPU and Motherboard sensor temps, while AI suite shows the Motherboard sensor, there will be a difference.
I prefer HWMonitor, although it did give odd readings on some AMD APU's.

well i just love HWinfo individual windows for each device / sensor...
on my work computer i check individual window per sensor...because this computer works 24/7 - 365
