Realtemp Sensor Test...

Today, i received my TT Frio with 2 x2500 rpm fans, i never had such an amazing *AIR* cooler,
but whenever i do the sensor test with realtemp 3.64 i get some weird readings.
screen:

the 10 tests should be in steps of approximately 10 % at a time, but the first 7 tests it performes it @ 100 % instead of 100%, 90%, 80%, etc etc ?,
What is causing this?, because the test result is incorrect now..

has it something to do with TURBO/EIST?, because the cpu throttles itself to match the cpu load @ that moment and thus staying @ 100% load ? im just guessing here
And also, is it recommended to disable turbo along with eist (and other powersaving crap) when ocing ?

Weird. You could disable it and then do the test again try to see if it makes a change. I always disable ''powersaving crap''.

Seems to be a software bug but i could be wrong.

Hmm lol i did not think of that, im gonna try that now. if that does not work, i will contact "unclewebb" hes the one that made realtemp so im going to notify him of this issue if it turns out not to be turbo related.

lol now it seems to underclock itself to mp of 25/29 instead of 34, i have disabled turbo, eist, c1(e) and other powersaving options and it still downlocks

i just thought of something, maybe this test is still accurate, because it utilizes less power (voltage) as it clocks down, so it basicly emulates the percentage of the cpu usage, but in a diffrent way ? can anyone confirm ?

lol i don't think so, unless its called diffrent but the first thing i scouted out when i installed my new hardware was the bios and i cant remember anything like that, well EIST but thats not thermal related.

Why are you using Real Temp GT? Try using the plain version.

yeh i just noticed that, so i switch to the regular one, did not noticed any diffrence except for the fact it has a smaller window..

okay i got a pm from uncleweb explaining why this is happening:

RealTemp has always used a feature of Intel processors called clock modulation throttling during the sensor test to reduce the CPU performance so the core temperature drops in nice steps.

On the latest CPUs, Intel has changed how clock modulation throttling works. It used to slow the CPU down internally but now what it does is it first drops the multiplier. When the multiplier can not go any lower, then it slows the CPU down internally like it used to do. The reason RealTemp is showing 100% is because based on the reduced multiplier, it is technically running at 100%.

For the newer processors I could change this and base the calculation on the default multiplier but with Turbo Boost, that is going to look dumb because there will be times where it shows numbers like 140%. There are also some Core 2 owners that always run their CPU at a reduced multiplier. I used to run my E8400 at 500 MHz x 8.0 but this CPU has a default multiplier of 9.0. If I based the percentage on the 9.0 multiplier, that would look dumb too since the CPU would never hit 100%.

so it looks like i've stumbled across an unfixable bug and i just have to read the temps if i want a good sensor test result.
