Just thought of another. Jade Empire. It has a great story and great gameplay.

forgot all about that... good story, but I was it was more open exploration instead of being so linear

YES!!!! So many phantasy star fans here, thats awesome. 3 and 4 were my favorite though for sure, 2 was a bit hard too. But all in all, greatest rpg series on a console, then comes final fantasy

Phantasy Star was the sole reason I bought a Sega Genesis.

Final Fantasy was fine until it turned from a Role Playing Game into a Role Watching Game.

5 minutes of play followed by 20 minute cutscenes make me grouchy.:banghead:

Titan Quest and it's expansion Immortal Throne offer nice visuals, good gameplay, and a decent story. I have the CD keys from my original game if you can DL it somewhere, I'll give them to to :)

I enjoyed the story (and fighting) in the God of War titles, and I was only watching, didn't even play.

ive never tried phantasy star, only phantasy star online on the dreamcast, i guess im probably missing out.

It also seems to me that story is no longer the biggest part of a game these days.

Sudeki for Xbox is pretty good. Long story though, something like 50 hours.

Advent Rising (Xbox) has an amazing storyline and gameplay, but sadly is closer to 10 hours.

Currently playing The Witcher. Damn, some good writing here. Even the dialogue in the cutscenes... lots of dry, understated humor.
