Red Dead Redemption (PS3)

Couldn't post in old thread. Too old.

Anybody have the PS3 version of RDR? I've heard bad things about the graphics, being very terrible in comparison to the 360 version. I've also heard it runs terribly in comparison to the 360 version as well.

Could somebody who owns the PS3 version tell me how it looks/runs on a large HD 1080p TV?

I'm considering buying it, and I was curious as to what you guys thought of the game in general and it's performance/visuals.

Its what you expect on the PS3 with a game large in scale like RDR. I don't have the 360 version to compare it to, but I don't think it looked awful. Too busy enjoying the gameplay to nitpick graphics.

I've played both (own both systems) but bought the game for the 360. The PS3 version ran fine while I played but the visuals are slightly worse IMO but it depends on what you like. Some people prefer the ps3 version.

The differences that I witnessed;

The PS3 has less items rendered in the landscape at one time than the 360.
The PS3 version has a softer visual look to it while the 360 is a sharper look. Hard to explain but thats the best way to put it.

Both games look good but IMO the 360 is the superior version.

That said if I didn't own a 360 I would not hesitate to buy it for the PS3 because its one of the most awesome games on either console. Its really that good.

I owned it for PS3 and honestly I felt it was one of the best looking PS3 games out there, and it ran fine for me.

I owned it for both, kept the ps3 version.

ps3 had a different kind of aa, that smoothed everything out but lost a little detail. the difference was so little on my 42" 1080p lcd that my decision was based on what console i like playing more, and that's ps3.

idk about object rendering, i did test for awhile but the only difference i noticed was the aa.

XBOX 360 = 720p 2x AA.

I like the PS3 look more, actually. The 360 looks all jagged and plastic. The PS3 has a smoother and grittier look to it.

it's smooth because the quincunx anti-aliasing is blurring everything. you should still buy it.

I'm buying the PS3 version, yeah. My 360 Red Ringed :\ After 7 red rings I gave up and bought a PS3.

Maybe this summer, but I sold all of my 36 xbox 360 games a week ago, and before I bought this PS3 I was mainly (only) using the 360 to stream media from my PC to my TV.

Only now, have I gotten back into console gaming.

Dunno, not a fan of M$ or subscriptions.

yeah i cancelled gold, kept psn. playstation gives you so much more for your subscription ...
microsoft TAKES AWAY standard features if you don't subscribe. I only get exclusives on xbox,
and most of those (halo, gears) i don't care for anyway...

Yeah, four years ago when I was half way through High School I was a fan of Halo and Gears, but not so much anymore.

I'm more into single player experiences now, and every now and then the occasional good multiplayer game will arouse my attention, but since it isn't my primary focus in terms of gaming, I definitely won't be paying extra to play my games online.
