I love my MX518 and I loved it so much I bought another one when it died. If this one ever dies the G500 will be my next purchase.

I went from a mx518 to a Razer Deathadder, and I like the Deathadder much better than the mx518. The G500 is in a higher Tier than both the mx518, and the Deathadder and around double the price. So, you can't go wrong with it either.

I can highly recommend it without any doubts... I've never used any software with it... Windows 7 and 8 along with Ubuntu 14 all work flawlessly with it...been solid, has the weights system, plenty of options and a great sensor. Plus for the price, it's impossible to beat. I can't believe how well it has worked, I planned on it being a temporary replacement until I could afford a higher end mouse...haven't had a need since I bought it back in 2013. I have trouble recommending anything more expensive at this point depending on needs...for a corded mouse it's a massive value imho.

I went from MX518 to Kensington ProFit Full-Size Mouse USB/PS2 (M01129). Can't complain really and it was half the price of the MX518.

The way Logitech didn't handle my last MX518 left a bad taste in my mouth. They're turning into a craptastic company.

I've owned a G500 since March 2011, excellent mouse. I also have a G400 at work (got for half price) and I have a year old M510 wireless mouse that is still on the original batteries even after daily usage.

theres a bit of a g700s fanclub here on TPU and GN.

For reference my spare corded mouse is a G500, which i also like. I could just never go back to corded after my G700 and G700s.

If you have medium to large hand, take a look at Kone XTD. I love every penny's worth of it. It's somewhat expensive, but it was worth it. Or if you're not an idiot like me, you can get the version without the stupid lighting for significantly less

For me, the G400 was the best replacement for my MX500. Tried the G500 and between being quite a bit heavier and the new buttons, I was accidentally hitting the thumb buttons on games where I'd lift the mouse now and then during frantic shoot and move boss fights.

The only thing I miss about the G500 is the scroll wheel, like buttah.

I used to have a Logitech G9.... actually i still have it on my 2nd computer. Thing was used to shit and still works well.... has 2 Thumb buttons and adjustable DPI buttons near the left click button. Props to that mouse.

Currently i am using a Logitech G600.... mostly for Archeage, due to having so many damn skills to keep track of. 12 thumb buttons ftw.

Mouse is more optimized to play MMO games, but it still works just fine for FPS shooters. (Obv)
