Beta is out, you get 5-6 tracks and 5-6 cars or whatever.
Neither GFX or sounds are anything special as yet, and I've no idea of whether any improvements will be made, but the good news is that MP is busy, so if that's your "thang", this could be for you, but be warned, the degree of difficulty is pretty high.

Btw, you need to pay for the beta{paypal accepted} and then you don't pay anything more for 18months.

I just want one sim, mainly for online, and then stick with it....not sure whether that'll be rf2 or GTR3, but I find that these games all drive differently, and chopping and changing slows me down.

If you are wiling to pay for testing a race sim try this:

    Project CARS
    http://www.wmdportal.com/projects/cars/

And in the end you get your money back discounted on the game price.
This is by far the best sim I ever played, and the graphics are amazing!

I'll check it out more in depth when I get home, viewing on the phone for now. It indeed looks great.

    Do you have a wheel?
You can dl a couple GTR demo's off steam, or just buy RACEO7 for $5-$6.
These online sims are all about MP and are very competitive, not a good place to start your sim career imo.

No wheel :( I know for sims you need one. Makes a world of a difference I'm sure.

Got my rennsport wheel stand today :D. Gonna hop on forza 4 for now. But i really wanna try cars. A racing sim that offers rally. interesting. Thought I had found the FFB in the shift games to not be the greatest.

As for GTR games, didnt like the FFB/feel of the wheel in those. felt really slippery. Didn't like how the cars handled.

Some people can be fast with a 360 controller, but a good wheel like a G27 is one of the best things you can do for gaming in general, and PC sims work better than console games wrt wheel precision/forcefeedback/MP numbers{25 or more in rfactor2}.

I think most people's reaction to buying something like a G27 is why they didn't do it sooner.

I race at iRacing.com, been there about 6 months and am very happy with it. Looking forward to rF2.

Not sure which wheel, but I have a G27 and it's excellent, and Inside Sim Racing praised the FFB with the T500.....as for handling.....not sure what you mean, but it strikes me as being pretty good, and if you meant you found the cars difficult to drive, "steer" clear of rfactor2, lol.

I've tried virtually every sim over the last few yrs, and if I had my way, I'd use a mix of Simbin{EVO} and Game Stock Car for physx......both iracing and rfactor2 are very slippery, but rfactor will have plenty of cars and tracks and won't cost $400-$600 getting there.

I used a DFGT at the time. But now I have a Fanatec GT2. I should give GTR evolution another shot, see what its like with that.

I liked rFactor, but I'm going to wait until I can get my hand on a good steering wheel, before I get into rF2.

Oh yeah? Does Minecraft ring a bell?
Thank you for the heads-up. I didn't knew this one. Looks great!

GT2 wheel would better, and if you have CSP's, the sim will kickass.
I slashed all my DFGT times after moving to G27 and my DFGT had a sponge brake mod as well....DFGT are junk by every criteria.

Test Drive Ferrari is coming in march 30, i think, not a hardcore sim, but it may be fun. Also i was watching a video of rFactor 2 Spa 68 F1, i love it, i may (99%;)) bought a subscription and try it.

I am letting all my mates at SimJunkies test this one out. Even as a beta it is getting mixed reviews. Most complaints right now are about the FFB.

I am in on C.A.R.S. tho(but I haven't been keeping up on the builds) That game ticks all the right boxes for me as I loved the eye and ear candy of Shift and it's the same engine it is just now getting more of a sim treatment.

Well it had 2 flaws as it aged. The pedals would go "wonky" and the wheel itself would develop centering issues.
    DRDNA says thanks.

I have been in iRacing and what not myself. What I would really like to see is a good "over the counter" NASCAR sim again. Not like the crap that EA put out, but some serious updated Papyrus type of NASCAR sim. God them were some good old days! I think the last good NASCAR sim was the 2003 version. Hell there were large followers and web sites devoted to keeping things updated with that game. Not even sure if any of them sites are still around. Probably ended up being iRacing. LOL
