I haven't played since the beta, but it was a good looking game.

The UI and hotkeys are/were exactly the same as WoW.

The Rift events were pretty fun, but like I said, it's been since the beta since I played the game.

Interesting. I got a free copy of Storm Legion from Steam for pre-ordering Defiance. Might have to install it and check it out in June.

I played it for about 9 months, then let it go. I went ahead and snagged a Storm legion for $25. I got a good bit of fun from it, and it was enough that I wouldn't mind being able to drop activity from it, and go back every year or so for a few months. Getting the legion expansion means I get access to the other souls, so why not :)

I might be back into it, tried it for a bit in beta and couldn't get myself to put in the monthly expense.

Eh, I always find the look of it to be disconcerting.

Can't argue that. I had a beta invite, looked at it, and said "Hm. WoW. Again. No thanks :)" But, several months later, looked again, and got tempted. Tried it out, liked it enough to hang out a few months. Free to play makes it, like I said, Great to pick up for a few weeks or months and drop it again to take a break.

    WoW is the MMORPG comparison,

Even though gameplay is different in a way, it does play like a RPG if you want it or not.

I agree the reference is somewhat invalid, because all games have features and things in the game that makes it unique.

However WoW is so popular because it grabbed the great things from these other RPGs and made it one.

    My 2 cents.

I logged in yesterday morning, just to see what had changed since I last played. No major problem getting in, but it was definitely a bit different than what I remembered.... banged around a few minutes, just because. Will probably spend some time Father's Day using my prerogative to relax the day away :)
