I have 2x 5870s both Sapphire Game edition cards, I brought them off a friend when they were 2 weeks old as he purchased 2x 5970s.

I have had the card's for about 4 weeks, and flashed them to the latest Game edition bios hosted on this site. The cards ran perfectly apart from the BFBC2 crossfire horizontal lines, I would swap one card in and out everytime a driver release or Crossfire profile would be released to try and see if the vertical lines were fixed, I couldnt play with Crossfire in BFBC2 as it was really annoying. The Cat 10.5 betas came out the otherday so I installed my second card again , installed the drivers and crossfire profile and played BFBC2 for around 3 hours (horizontal lines were still there but not as bad), then shut the pc down and went to bed. The next day I started my pc andthe monitor wasnt getting a signal, but with card 2 it was.

I uninstalled drivers and reinstalled them but each install the operating system would blue screen, and then when I eventually installed the drivers one card would be left with a yellow ! in device manager, this led me to believe one card was defective.

I then proceeded to test each card on its own, and found that one of the cards had infact dead. I thought maybe it could have been the newer bios I installed a week ago, but doubted it as the cards were running fine, so I was going to flash the cards back and see what happened, well the dead card wouldnt flash , it would fail and error came up- can not erase rom fail, so this is in fact a dead card.

I want to ask some of you about RMA, are Sapphire anygood? I fired them off a support ticket lastnight, can I expect a RMA? if so do they take forever? will they make me return the card to the reseller? I hope not this just adds another hoop to jump through, how long do these things normally take?

i can only speak of my experience. since i live in a different country from you, this may not apply at all for you.

here in canada, i shipped my dead 4890, and got a new (and slightly updated) 4890 back in about two weeks. unfortunately for me, one of the corners of the card (with the power connectors) is slightly warped. fortunately, it didn't affect the card in any way.

so the RMA service is pretty fast for me, though rather sloppy. the only packaging they did was wrapping it in a thick sheet of styrofoam and put it in a box; the warped corner of the card happens to be facing the bent part of styrofoam.

Ya i got a bunk one out of Tigerdirect and I Noted Sapphire for their speedy replies to my request, took them 2 weeks to get me a board but thats due to being overseas location. I hold them Higher as of service over HIS.
