Hello Im doing internal maintenance on my 2nd PC at the moment.. All hard ware is fine etc. But one of my sata cables was broken, so I went to replace and found my self out of sata cables.

I wondering if the red sata cable (which is for DVD drives if Im not mistaken?????) will work with a hard drive?

red sata cables will work with hdd's, ssds, optical drives and so on, but just be aware of that many of the old red sata cables can't run SATA 6GB/s they fail at doing that other than that, they r fine.

the cable color is purely optical, there is no functional difference.
