Yeah, I'm savin up for a Mopar! :D :rockout:

What one should I look around for?
These ones are my personal favs.

    - 1969 Dodge Charger
    - 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona
    - 1969 Plymouth Road Runner
    - 1969 Dodge Superbee
    - 1970 Plymouth Road Runner
    - 1971 Plymouth Duster 340

My uncle used to have a '69 Road Runner, and it was freaking awesome, and he now has a '69 Charger. That has inspired me to look around for a older Mopar, and restore it from the ground up (like he's doing with the Charger). I've been really on the side of getting a Road Runner, but I just wanted to see what you guys thought;)

If you guys can find something cheap (around 3k, or a lil more) and not really be in good condition (but not totalled), I'd really appreciate it!

yeah, Im pretty shure you wont find any of those cars near 3k. but if you want to get an idea of what they go for just go to e-bay motors and check the prices on the 1970 road runner.

how long ago did he get it? those cars are hard to find now a days for that price, and most of them that you find have already been restored and cost a shit load.

Turbo 2.2 minivan with a 5 speed swap. One of the best sleepers ever. Or an Omni GLHS.

He might get lucky. There's a place up near me that's always selling cool old cars.

If I had a spare 4K, might have that one above. Though I have too many cars to fix up as it is :D

Keep in mind though. If you get one with some broken glass you're going to have a hard time finding glass for it. Took me a while to find a backglass for a '62 Impala. (Take it from me, I work at an auto glass shop) And if they can get it for you it isn't going to be cheap, unless for some reason they like to make a lot of glass for a very old car.

The oldies are good, but man, nothing beats modern technology. Personally, I would go after this:

Go for the Super Bee. Whatever you do don't get the Daytona! Its the hands down ugliest car ever made. HP cant save that one. Plus I doubt you could find a Daytona for that price. Why don't you go for a GTO? Its a much sexier car man! Plus it would fit into your budget. Mopars worth fixing up are rare. A good GTO you can find like that all day long.

Edit: When I say 88 horsepower, I'm talking about really big horses.

I like the style of the Daytona :D

GTO's are nice, I agree, but I'd rather use a Mopar, as I admire them.

I'm still more a fan of the classics. They're more original, have soul, not like the heartless, cold machines there are about now.
Jeremy Clarkson made the best comparison in one of his books (this is nowhere near word for word); His old Ferrari 355 was fast, very fast, it looked good, had soul, passion, but was very impractical, for his height especially. His Mercedes SL55 AMG though, was fast too, just as fast, more practical, looked great, but lacked the soul and feel of the Ferrari, to the point that, he couldn't leave the Ferrari outside in the rain, he felt like it was sad when he did, but the Merc, he just parks it anywhere, leaves it in the rain, parked on mud, he doesn't care, it's a machine, nothing more.
I think that's how I'd feel with any rehash of an old machine. If I had an original Charger, Challenger, etc. I'd feel bad about leaving it outside in the cold (and not just because it could develop rust easily, but that helps :p), while the new rehash, I'd not give a shit. It can stay outside for all I care, as long as it's still there when I'm back.
For that reason, and many more, give me the older cars.
