Japanese cooling expert Scythe is officially confirming the compatibility between its own CPU Coolers and new sockets FM1 and AM3+. Product Development in the IT Industry is constantly evolving and in some cases implies new interfaces as well as sockets.

Brand new Mainboards for AMD A Processor Series are available on the market since a couple days. In order to assure a safe operation a proper CPU-Cooler is required, where Scythe is offering a wide spectrum of products suiting everyone's requirements. All current Scythe CPU Coolers models are therefore already compatible to the new to AMD sockets FM1 and AM3+. Users can either utilize the Scythe CPU Coolers they own or get a new CPU Cooler from the shops as no extra clips or mounting kits are required.

You mean newer sockets with the exact same retention mechanism as previous generations are compatible with older coolers? No way!

    Yea, that is absolutely amazing!
I also got an email from Corsair a couple days ago, my current DDR3 RAM will work in socket AM3+ motherboards

    TECHNOLOGY!

I would have never guess a cooler like the Mugen 2, that requires the remove of the stock retention system and replaces it with its own, would work. What are the chances a Scythe cooler is compatible with a retention system specifically engineered to work with it.

This is good to know after I have already attached a Scythe Mugen 2 Rev. B to a board with an AM3+ socket like 3 days ago that it is now officially supported.
    Chevalr1c says thanks.

Pretty sure everything that was compatible with AM2 should be compatible with AM3+ seeing as how the retention bracket is the same. Only the frame of it is missing, and if anything, that would be the thing impeding on existing coolers...

Still good to not even have to think about it for someone that has a Katana 3.....not even a concern...now...not that I thought it wouldn't be compatible...because it's obvious...But now I wont even have to think about something I likely wouldn't have thought of because it's a non-issue...which is good to know.
