    hi,

i'm looking for a bios editor other then RBE if there is any.
its not to overclock or anything, but to modify the fan table.
i know RBE had some BSOD problems with clock changing on HD6850/6870 cards dno about the 6900 series.
but the fan table had no problem with BSOD's.
the only problem is, when i change the fan table settings and save the bios its all good, but when i flash nothing has changed :(

    is there any alternative ?
i know there are tools like trixx and such, but i want the settings to be stuck in the GPU bios.

anyway, thanks for the time and help.

    grtz

i used atiflash to work in DOS version 3.xx and the latest one, same deal.
the card is the V2 from Asus with 2 pci-e power plugs.

this is the vbios -> http://users.skynet.be/timmen/Barts.rom

    Hi

thanks for the info; *assumming the following as it has not been alaborated on

    - edited a **Clean vbios image with RBE v1.28 [**imaged @ DOS prompt or via GPU-Z prior to vga card being flashed]
    - fully undestand the Fan settings "Use look up table"
[lowering a mechanical fan speed may not be possible below it's lowest RPM threshold]

    - catalyst drivers were Deap Cleaned [or fresh install of windows] prior to flashing the vga card
    - used atiflash v3.99
    - are using windows 98 version of DOS created with HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool
    - typed at the DOS prompt

    atiflash -unlockrom 0 [maybe required]
    atiflash -f -p 0 #BiosName#.rom

Note: it is still possible the manufacturer may have propriatory hardware fan controll at PSB level, had this with an Asus model in the past

    ok, thank you.
i'll try the unlockrom command and see if that helps.

and i use indeed the "windows 98 version of DOS created with HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool"

the unlockrom methode is a no go, i guess it was already unlocked.

i saved the bios with gpu-z also with trixx and with atiflash, i edited the 3 saved rom's but the fan settings stays like it is the stock rom unedited.
idle 20% and hardly goes up in speed when the card gets hotter.
i want it idle 35%, so instead of "duty cycle min% 22" and "Tmin C°55" i want it both to be 35.

i guess i'll have to stick with trixx software.
