Seeking a living room HTPC build

That looks like a nice enough build and it'll leave you a little room to upgrade in the future. You might think about saving for a small SSD (often on offer on black Friday) and a video card.

I got the AMD 6800K today. Man that is one tiny aluminum heatsink. The quality feels worse than my athlon xp 2500+ stock heatsink. I am very disappointed. 6800K is rated as 100W. I really dont think that tiny sized heatsink will cool the 6800K well. Even if it can I swear it will probably sound like a jet taking off. I have some intel oem heatsink from my previous built, one is for a 2500K and another is for a i7 920. Intel's OEM heatsink quality is way better than what AMD is offering. It is the top of the APU line model and they give it this useless little heatsink?

So I am looking for a not too expensive alternative cooling solution. budget is 30~40 bucks. Any idea guys? I use Noctua C14 for my mine rig and I know they are amazing. However I dont wanna shell out that much for a htpc

And my mobo is the Asrock A85X M-ATX. My ram is GSKill Ripjaw. I have no idea what kind of heatsink can fit in this. I haven't build an AMD system since my XP 2500+

H60 would be nice. But i dont think I can get a new one with fm2 bracket in my budget.

They go on sale a lot. The H60 comes with AMD mounts. You use the same hardware for FM2 as you do for AM2/3.

Over budget. But you could run it without the fans, most probably.

That's where I got mine. Refurbished, it had a few bend fins but worked perfectly

SILVERSTONE Black Aluminum skin reinforced plastic...

This cooler seems like little better than AMD heatpipe cooler. Use a fan controller to reduce the rpm and it will be quieter.

The stock cooler on the 6800K has no heatpipe. Just a tiny aluminum heatsink with a low quality 80mm fan.

I didn't get the case you posted. I got the silverstone sg02, for more room.

Coolermaster 212 wont fit, it is too tall. H60 will not fit as well. Damn this case is tight. Only allows up to 82mm of room for a heatsink.
