the market isn't that bad for a 5000 series card no? he could sell the 5850 first before buying and then sell the 5970 at a good price

one way or another, it isn't really a smart move performance wise... unless tesselation or CUDA is involved... we still don't know what it is supposed to be used for...

not to mention heat and noise

Man, what is it with the talkz on Pr()n here lately?

You want Steak or Lobster? That's all it boils down to.

Steak is ATI

Lobster is Nvidia..

You get what you pay for.

Me, I like steak over Lobster.

Love my GTX 470, but you setup is already a powerhouse with those cards.

If you have the money and you really want to get better performance, then go ahead and just pick up 3x GTX 480's. Otherwise, stay where you are.

I'd say go green man, I ran ati cards ever since the 8800gt came out and I was dissatisfied with it, just switched back to the green team with GTX 260's and dayum. games seem to be much more optimised for nvidia tbh. one GTX260 gets me 45fps or higher in bc2 and my dual 4890s got me 60 maximum, so for me its a no brainer

I wouldn't mind using Nvidia for the heck of it, but I don't feel like upgrading my power supply just to do it. Perhaps I'm just one of the only people who don't experience driver problems with ATi. :ohwell: I'd rather wait until Nvidia comes up with something better in terms of power consumption. This is a new architecture for them and I'd rather not have to deal with their (albeit somewhat minimal) growing pains. I'm very interested to see what they will do with their new GF104 chip. Plus, if I was still concerned with benchmarking, there's no way I would have an AMD setup right now. I just can't comprehend spending a vast amount of money for e-penis anymore with the economy in the tank. There is nothing my current setup cannot do flawlessly with what I do.

Much respect to that post, I completely agree with you, same goes for me especially when getting criticized by some other COD players with 480's / equivalent and I'm still owning them in game... my build does what I want it to do with no hiccups :p

The power consumption isn't as bad as it was said to be in the beginning. I feel very comfortable running 2x GTX 470's on my Corsair 850w PSU. I don't benchmark at all(besides a little heaven benching) but i have a great i7 setup, and that's only because i had at the money at the time to get some of the best parts out. And all i do is gaming and go on the webs. It all depends on the person and circumstance.

And i to have yet to see any problems with ATI's drivers when i was using a 5770.(and when i was using a 4870)

But i agree overall.;)

I can sell my cards for 2150 over here and get 2x480s from you guys for 1700, or 3 470 for 2000.

Maybe you should get into the business of importing goods for resale then

Instead of wasting time on hardware swaps.

Your points are very valid and make sense , plus there is zero wrong with your rig, you can max everything out. Heck at decent resolutions I can max most games. Most of these rigs are overkill including yours E, and there is nothing wrong with a little overkill.

Economy over here is great by the way, really easy selling things. God damn it, might have to pay for one 480 since the guy already opened the wraping to test it for me. Was decided on getting a XBOX 360 (new), but then again, without taxex the card will run me of 800$ I can sell it for 1200$

Also sold my 5850 for 700$... Dunno if was a good idea. Hehe
