Hi everyone I am currently hosting a few game servers for friends and friends of friends. Everything is going smooth but I need to improve performance. Currently the system is a budget built FX6300 not over clocked. I want to get more performance out of the machine and want to guarantee over all stability and for such I managed to get my xeon 3520 running again. The big question is will the Xeon 3520 give me the CPU over head that I need or is the old nehalem architecture too dated to keep up with vishera chips?
I need some extra performance and I want to build a newer server in time but to do it right takes time and money. I am willing to make use of my old server hardware and get off consumer grade equipment even if the system is older but before I start migrating I am asking the community what you think about the jump. Any thoughts?
