I've just received an amazing PC for Christmas. However, the video card that I got to go with it won't even show the BIOS logo or anything similar. I use a Corsair CX600 and it has 2 PCI-E connectors. When I don't plug any in, it reverts back to original built in graphics. When only one is in, the card doesn't display anything, not even the logo when you start the machine, but the fans run at 100% and never stop. When both PCI-E cables are in the card, it doesn't display anything like before, but the fans don't run. I've tried to flash a new GPU BIOS to the card, but it gives an error due to the fact that the motherboard doesn't even detect the card is there. I've plugged in a GeForce GTX 260 with both PCI-E cables in and it displays perfectly. The card works in other PC's so it is just mine. I have no idea how to fix it. How can I flash a new bios to something that can't even be detected? My PC is a Lenovo K450E and I modified the PSU and the GPU. It has 16GB of ram and an I7-4790 processor.

HOW DO I FIX THIS ISSUE? I NEED THIS WORKING BY DECEMBER 28th!!!

hold your horses, a bios update is a last resort.

First thing first, is I understood fine:

- The card works on other computers, just not yours.
- You didn't connect the PCIe power cables at first

If the card works on other PCs it's just a matter of misconfigured bios.

1. Take the card out of the PC
2. Start your PC normally and enter the PC bios. This is usually achieved by pressing DEL or F2 key while the POST screen apears.
3. Look around for an option named "Init display first", "display adapter", etc. (each manufacturer calls this differently and I don't know how Lenovo's bioses are so you'd have to look for it).
4. Once you find it change it to "PEG adapter", "PCIE", etc. (again, each manufacturer calls the option by different names)

The objective is to tell the PC to look for the graphics card first. As it is now it finds the integrated graphics first and runs with that.

Actually, now it won't work... See, we all got a Lenovo IdeaCentre K-series K450E for christmas. We all have the same motherboard but different PSU's. We just tried the card on a 650W PSU and it still didn't display, which shows an error in Lenovo's BIOS. Either I have to manually flash a BIOS on the card so it displays or I download an update for the Lenovo machine I have (and I've searched and Lenovo currently has no updates for the BIOS). Basically, it is not a power issue. (Also, I've tried the PEG change in the current BIOS and it didn't display still and in order to see something I had to "borrow" someone's GTX 750Ti to see something again...)

EDIT: Forgot to mention that it no longer works on anyone's PC who has the K450E.

ok, can you connect both cards at the same time? We'd use the 750Ti for the main display and try to diagnose the 6870. Do it on your PC with the CX600, the others might not be able to handle both at the same time.

I don't have much time but the general steps would be:

1. Boot into Windows and see if the 6870 shows up on the device manager (it'll say something like "VGA adapter" with a question icon). Install the Radeon drivers if so.
2. Download GPU-Z from here: http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/2418/techpowerup-gpu-z-v0-8-0/
3. Run GPU-Z and see what it says about the 6870 and we can start from there.

If the 6870 doesn't show up on the device manager then it's time for the big guns and attempt a bios flash; there are some threads about doing so here on TPU. I'll be heading out soon so I don't have much time to search for them but I'm sure someone else will tell you which they are.

Another possibility is to try and force the card to run at 8x: http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/t...da-also-card-doesnt-work-in-x16-slots.203819/

Thanks for the help, but unfortunately it doesn't show up under device manager. If anyone would be willing to point me towards specific instructions and a link to the new BIOS flash I need, please do! The machine hardly runs what I need it to with the GTX 260.

Hi

TBH; if vga card did work in other systems, only failed in primary system would check the power outputs from the PSU and for shorting on the case. Moving on with that out of the way.

[Note: a Vbios image update is not going to resolve this issue]

unfortunately it doesn't show up under device manager. If anyone would be willing to point me towards specific instructions and a link to the new BIOS flash I need, please do!

If lucky there may be a copy of the Original Vbios image in the TPU database or other / *assuming no backup was taken before flashing with wrong Vbios image [*confirm this]
