If you are using Vista x64, the new bios update from Asus will not work. The program will just hang and it will take a long time to shutdown or restart Vista. You will have to flash the bios in DOS. Using this article http://forums.techpowerup.com/showthread.php?p=811343 you will learn how to create a DOS boot disk or DOS boot flash drive. You will then use use the ATI Flash tool to flash the new bios. Here is the link to the new bios. WARNING! this bios is only for the 1gig version of the 4850.

WARNING! If you are using two cards in Crossfire mode, please flash the cards one at a time (remove one from your computer).
FYI: How did I get these files...I have Vista x64 too. I wanted to use the latest ATI Drivers 8.12 to run my two 4850's. But the new drivers do not see Crossfire. So I went onto Asus's website and found the new bios update. WOOHOOO! I thought! Wrong it doesn't work in Vista x64. So I installed Vista x86 (the 32 bit version) and I grab the original factory bios using ATI Win Flash tool. The I updated the bios using Asus's updated utility. Then I grab the new updated bios with ATI Win Flash.
Hope this helps out everybody with Vista x64
