Hello All,
So last year I purchased 2 GTX 780Ti's for my long term build (5 Years). Right now my system is holding up fine, but I have noticed a huge jump in GPU tech and increase in VRAM usage on newer games over the last 6 months.

Most of the games that I have now are fine, but I have noticed a few games (i.e. Shadows of Mordor/Watch Dogs) that when the setting are turned up, will use a lot of VRAM (3GB+) even on 1080p.

I have watching a lot of E3 coverage and I know two games that were announced, Fallout 4 and Mass Effect 4, I will be getting day 1. Also, I am really interested in Star Citizen. I know with Fallout 4 there will be a lot of Mods and I love Mods (I have Skyrim with numerous Mods).

Right now I have a 1080p monitor, but I would like to eventually upgrade to a 1440p (144Hz) monitor, either FreeSync or GSync capable.

My current specs are: i7-4770K, Asus Maximus Hero, 16Gb Ram, 1000w SS PS.

My plan is still to have a 4-5 Year computer.

So should I invest in replacing my 780Ti's (SLI) with Fury X's in CF / 980Ti's in SLI (If Yes, which ones) or should I just keep my 780Ti's???

Thank You

It's very hard to build an enthusiast level rig for a 4-5 year lifespan. We don't know what will be required for enthusiast level performance that far into the future. If you are going to get a 1440p monitor then my suggestion is the same as what I am going to do myself. Grab a 980 Ti or Fury X. Wait two years and sell that and by a high end Pascal or Arctic Fury. Upgrading every two years ensures you have the latest tech and performance rather than trying to guess what may be needed 4 years from now.

No No , Absolutely not. you cant guess what happens in next years. next year a GPU Comes and out performs the others in same launch price ( gtx 970 vs gtx 770 ).You are just fine with x2 780ti even in 4k. and dont worry about VRAM . look how much the witcher 3 uses VRAM ( 1.5 Gb ) and the others .

if you want a huge jump , w8 for 2016-2017.

The 780 Ti is still up there with the best cards so I would not even dream of replacing them, especially @ 1080p.

It's a waste of money for 1080p just stick with it until the next generation comes out.

Not true. I have the same set us as OP (albeit Classified at higher clocks) and at 1440p the 3GB of Vram is a barrier to smooth gaming at max settings on several triple A titles.

@OP - if you plan on getting a 1440p monitor, upgrade your gfx cards to higher Vram models. If you stay ay 1080p - you're fine. I plan on going 4k with Win 10 and I will definitely be upgrading to a 6Gb 980ti or Fury X - whichever is faster when overclocked (sustainably).
