Should I SLI my 780 or get a single 980 ti?

Hello,

The title is pretty much my question. I have a Gigabyte Windforce GTX 780 GHz Edition. I can pick another one up for around $275. Would it be wise just to SLI for that price or try and sell my current 780 and put the money towards a 980 ti? Do games still struggle with SLI?

I game at 1080p @ 60Hz. Before I get an influx of, "It is not worth it for 1080p @ 60Hz" comments, let me just say that I know. Even though I game at that level, I want to be able to check everything in the settings menu. I am pretty much set do one or the other.

Go for the 980TI. I have a thread where I was trying to choose between different SLI, Xfire, and single card setups and the single 980TI won above all picks.

I would also concur even at 1080p I would rather go for a single high end new generation card over SLI'ing two GTX 780's (Especially with NVidias recent treatment to Kepler).

Go for the GTX 980ti, or save some money and instead buy something like a GTX 980 Classified (Or the likes) or a R9 Fury.

the 980 is still a great card for 1080p gaming, but once OCed, it should put a smile on your face on the highest settings across ~93% of games without breaking a sweat while maintaining >60fps average.

a GTX980 non Ti unless his budget isn't an issue, the 980Ti would be a pick to drive ALL games at max settings on 1080p, which will give him an even bigger smile.

I will have to agree with everyone the 980 ti is the way to go even if you plan on playing @ 1080p, it will be better even if you decide to go 1440p in the future

I just moved from 2 GTX 780's to a GTX 980 Ti and am very happy with the change. So I would say go with a 980 Ti or 980.

Ditto. A 980Ti will be as fast as 780 SLI, while using less power, having more VRAM, and no dual-GPU issues to worry about.

keep your 780. you dont need another one. it is still powerful @ 1080p. just wait for 2016. dont spend more $ on any 28nm GPU.

980Ti G1 is the new speed king, no doubt. But if you wanted something fast & still has the same price as the factory 980Ti, Zotac's AMP! Edition will be your answer. @testudo, I'm currently using an ASUS MX239H monitor, which is more than enough for everyday gaming usage since I dun really have much hype into buying a G-Sync monitor or the kit itself... a normal 1440p monitor would be a good alternative if G-Sync monitors is out of your reach.

I am just wondering...will I be able to max out games with 60 FPS on a high resolution monitor, like a 1440p? G Sync isn't totally out of reach, but is it worth it? I mean, paired up with a G1 980 ti?

G-Sync 144Hz 1080p monitor + 980Ti G1 = win. But for normal 1440p monitor + 980Ti G1 to get the magical 60fps on max settings? Confirmed. You can read the review just to double-check it's performance. =)
