Should I trade my Msi 7870 for two 6970's?

the right thing is to tell your buddy to upgrade his PSU, if he does not want to... get the duals... (this way if he has "barters remorse" you can say... well i told you to upgrade your PSU...

Considering you downgraded to your current card I'd say keep it simple and do not trade.
