mine was refurb too and there wernt any dead pixels, its amazing how cheap LCDs are now.

Now I kind of wished I had gone with two 22" lcds.

I've had bad luck with refurb electronics, definitely buy the two year replacement policy if you go refurb.

I bought a 28" not so hot brand named I-winn recently, same as newegg's hanns-g 28" and it has a stuck pixel, first monitor it's ever happened on, it fixed itself. It's a gamble you take on any monitor purchase.

I have an I-Inc monitor. It has a streak of dead pixels at the top right, but you can't see them unless there is a black bar there, and the room is completely dark, and you happen to look pretty closely at that spot. Otherwise the display is perfect and has no dead pixels. I have no problem with the brand. My friend told me to go with Samsung but I looked at buyer reviews and they have plenty of quality control issues as well. I wish that dead or stuck pixels weren't a gable we all take whether buying new or refurbished but that is just a flaw of the market.

Yeah, the one I saw was only visible when booting, might even still be there but can't see it after boot. People were bagging on that brand but on tiger directs site, almost 700 people rated it and it's easy a 4.9 there.

A 28" monitor @ 1900 x 1200 means huge detail, awesome for shooters. I saw people in the deals forum bagging on newegg's hannsg deal because of the brand but I'll never regret this purchase. $250 for a 28" shipped, steallll...

Why would one store have any more chance of dead pixels than any other? The only way to guarantee against them is seeing the monitor turned on before you buy it.
