I've had Dell all-in-one inkjet 948 printer for few years now.

And I've gotten sick of it. First of all, inks are insanely expensive and they run out way too fast. It's almost as if ink cartridges have an expire date. Its ink level goes down rapidly even without much uses after few months. And every time I get to order from Dell, it costs me good 100 CAD since I order 2 of each of blank and color cartridges.

And it's been giving me driver issues in Windows 7.

So, since my current ink supply is almost out, I plan to change my printer.

Does anyone have a good recommendation on an all-in-one printer with inexpensive ink cartridges ? Or do I need to go for laser printer ?
If I go for a laser printer, I guess I will have to purchase an independent scanner.

get a canon printer, they are cheap, last very long, and produce excellent prints. get one with seperated color carts if you can though, like Canon PIXMA iP series iP4820 Up to 11.0 ipm 9600 x..., they are a bit more expensive, but the carts are cheaper, and very very veryyyyy easy to refill! you can refill all the carts like 5-7 times for like $10-15.
also, the seperated color carts aren't the sponge type (like in your dell), in which you may loose ink due to things like drying of the sponge etc.. they are pure ink holders.

I have a wireless Epson Scanner printer Artisan 710, I use it primarily for printing printable CD'S and DVD'S There is also an 810 model out. My Laser is a 6 year old Ricoh CL 1000n that gives me good service, however toner price is ridiculous 145.00 to 160 dollars per toner cartridge

if you get a laser printer (color or not), while the toner is expensive it lasts a looooooong time.

That is true, I only had to replace Black and Magenta so far in 6 years, I only use the laser for specific jobs.

I use a color Xerox Phaser at home. It's great. A little power hungry though.

Yeah, I am thinking of All-in-one laser printer. I really hate my Dell printer now. I've never printed anything color and I've wasted two color cartridges over 5 months. That's 60 CAD wasted.

I have a laser printer that I am in love with it. It came with starter cartridges and they are still pulling strong coming up on a year of use.

After some googling and researching, I've decided to go with Laser printer. It has higher startup cost, but it seems to be better value in long term.

Now, I just need to find my ideal all-in-one printer.

    Not really.

    SAMSUNG CLX Series CLX-3175FW MFC / All-In-One Up ...

Great printer. The toner cartridges aren't cheap, but they last forever. My black cartridge has about 1,350 prints on it right now, and I bought it over a year ago. Toner doesn't not dry up over time like inkjet.

Plus it is wireless and network ready, so you can put it anywhere.:toast:

And the cartridges that come with it are not starter cartridges, they are full cartridges. I got 1,400 prints out of my first black cartridge.

Yeah, I saw that printer. Newegg price is ridiculous though. Tirgerdirect has it for 249 (CAD).
However, I noticed that printer's toners are quite expensive for its capacity. It has got only 2500ish pages per toner. (others have it at 5000 pages per toner)
