I get distracted by a lot of things, but stuff changing on the page doesn't impact by ability to do things. Yeah, it might catch my eye for a second, but once I notice it's an ad, I ignore it.

Do you have to work in silence to be able to concentrate as well, or is it just a visual thing? I know that certain things distract me more than others. Sounds is a lot worse for me than visual queues are.

Just consider that so many people use ad blockers and that should tell you something. If most people were happy to "just ignore them", then ad blockers wouldn't be so popular now would they?
