I want to buy BF3, but I haven't decided if I want to buy it on Origin or buy it retail. I have a pretty slow Internet connection at home and I would prefer to have the basic game on disc rather and then to just have to download the patches rather than have to download the entire game and the patches. Does the BF3 retail product actually have the basic game on the discs in the box or is it nothing more than an Origin code?

It does have the main game on disk. If I remember correctly, this will save you from downloading almost 13GB.

Yeah, with the Karkand add on, you are looking at over 18GB total.

I got a physical copy. I'm glad I did too. Had to reinstall a couple of times and with the disc, it wasn't so bad. I'm sure those issues have been ironed out by now though. If your connection is slow id definitly recommend it. 3gb dl vs 15gb or so?

The best thing to do if you have the digital copy is to fully download it then copy the Battlefield 3 folder to a secure location and it will always be there ready if you need to re install.

Actually, Origins, allows you to save installation files. you need to select that in preferences.
