I seen it was released today. I was wondering what everyone thought about it. Is the 3d solid? Did it make your eyes hurt? Games any-good you played? Can you play DS games on it?

Can it play movies, and music like the PSP? Just wondering....

I really considered buying the 3DS, but from what I have seen, battery life is only 3-5 hours. The only two good release titles seem to be Pilot Wings and Street Fighter. Seems to have cool features like Netflix, which will be unlocked later down the line, and internet browsing. These are not activated for the release however. It can play music, and movies. You also have some weird street walk feature, where is talks to other 3dses.

    DaMulta says thanks.

I just read that 3DS will get 3d Netflix! That's cool as sin, but I wonder why they held back the release of it.....

My wife got one a month ago. The 3D hurts her eyes after a while, so she mostly plays in 2D. It is pretty cool though permitted you have a proper viewing angle. I like how it can take 3D pictures, but the battery life does suck. Turning down the brightness and wireless helps, but it's still not the greatest (a lot better than my old Game Gear though).

I thought about it and seems really awesome but if I do get it, it won't be for awhile. I don't think the 3DS is worth the same price the Wii was when that was first released. ($250)
That's a hefty price tag but that 3D technology doesn't have a cheap price to develop. :/

Edit: Should this be in the games forum?

Game Gear was the shit before I got into computers.

Poor battery life, annoying 3d viewing angles, and had a few people say they get headaches and whatnot from it..

I'm just waiting for the 3d fad to die again.

^The Game Gear was great, but it had a terrible battery life -even with the monstrous external battery.

The exchange rate favors the yanks on this one. My wife paid over $300 USD for hers (¥25000). I was tempted to pick one up in the States just to save the 50 dollars, but she didn't want to wait. Games are priced differently as well. DS games run over $60 USD here. It doesn't seem fair!

I got it. I guess it's alright so far, although I didn't buy a single game for it. None of the launch games interest me and I'm waiting for Ocarina 3D and Kid Icarus Uprising.
The AR card thingy is pretty neat itself though.

I basically don't see how it's bad for the eye. I have a laptop with 3D screen, and it's basically the same, but without the dorky glasses. Haven't felt any side-effects so far.

because your eyes are technically looking at two seperate screens.

since your eyes arent focusing on the same point in space, you can get eye strain, go crosseyed, and get nasty headaches.

Even more technical, it's 1 screen from different viewing angles. Getting crosseyed sounds kind of scary.

its one screen layered behind the other (two total), with opposing viewing angles, afaik.

Yeah you will get headaches if you go to a bestbuy and try to play one. I'm told after many plays you feel fine however.

yeah but you get after effects from that, where your vision is now used to being slightly crosseyed and it doesnt go well once you stop playing.

I didn't notice any. However, depends on eye distance and such for the degree of crosseyedness. I have a short distance between my eyes. Could have to do with that, not sure. All I know is it would be very touch to play this walking, and you would shift your point of focus. Streetwalk is enabled so you just put it in your pocket cause Nintendo knows nobody can play standing up!

Sony's fanbois are going to have a field day with this one.

I guess I'll wait for the NGP too. if one's getting a handheld with only 3 hours battery life, might as well buy one that gets the most out of it.

I think i'm going to wait for the 3DS Lite in 12 months because it will be cheaper and probably have a longer battery life.
