I built an htpc setup for my mother in law and im having issues with the sound threw the receiver

heres the build:

Recieve r- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882105282
msi 785g motherboard - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130237
athlon II x2 240 cpu
your standard htpc case, a couple 1tb hdd and a bluray player.

the problem is when I have everything hooked up threw hdmi's, I only get sound threw the tv. the reciever speakers get no sound at all. I read the manual and it says it will only pass threw audio through the hdmi when the tv is hooked up with hdmi.

So I need a spdif bracket for the motherboard and use optical out for the htpc.

I found 2 different spdif brackets, one is asus and the other is msi. the msi is located in austrailia and the asus is located at excaliburPC

msi - http://cgi.ebay.com/MSI-Motherboard...ViewItemQQptZMotherboards?hash=item35a1b64963
asus (from AU too) - http://cgi.ebay.com/ASUS-Motherboar...ViewItemQQptZMotherboards?hash=item35a3d23814
asus (from excaliburpc)- http://www.excaliberpc.com/551265/asus-motherboard-accessories-spdif-out.html

will the asus one work on the msi if I change the motherboard adapter.

I ordered both cause I will getthe asus one quicker hoping that it will work with the msi board. the asus and msi from the AU ebay guy look identical to me besides the motherboard adapter.
