Hey TPU,
I already touched base with a few people but I wanted to get as much input as possible.
I'm rocking several drives (HDDS and SSDS) on a Hasswell platform. Currently my boot drive is an OCZ Vertex 2, which has been with me since my days in college.
Last night I moved all my components into a 900D. (bragging rights). Now, here's my situation as best as I can explain it.
From a cold boot, if I turn on the PC, I have to go into bios, select the drive (if it's recognized) and boot off it.
If I restart or shut down then boot up again later, I have to first manually disconnect the SATA cable from the motherboard, reconnect it, and then boot up. And repeat the process of finding it in the bios.
On its own, the motherboard often times will not boot off the drive and gives me the error "Windows cannot boot because of an inaccessible device"
Related, my bios won't let me save the boot order on my drives. (Asus Maximums VI Hero)
I have tried: Different cables. Different ports. Device manager clears all of my hardware. And while running Windows, my PC is stable enough to play SimCity and Battlefield 4 endlessly. On its own it doesn't crash (except for when AMD's drivers take a deuce on me).
Any thoughts? Should I consider taking advantage of cyber monday and ponying up for a new SSD at this point?
I have not tried clearing the CMOS or flashing the bios, but I doubt either of those will do it.
Cheers,
-P
