could there be something in the ammo's file that dictates which weapons will use it?

Nope. Tried that theory when I made it so the Groza could use 9mm handgun ammo, it should be the slightly bigger submachinegun calibre, but I stuck with 9mm handgun ammo just so that ammo type was more useful.

Maybe there's a maximum amount of ammunition types that can be used by a gun?
As far as I know, weapons only have a maximum of 3 ammo types don't they? Groza uses 9MM and I think there's 2 types of that, and then there's the grenades. Shotguns have 3 types as well I think, slug shot, bird shot, and flechette. Maybe there's something in one of the files that'll have something to do with that.

Dunno. I could try using just one shotty ammo type. There will still be the issue of getting the right animations and sound FX when using the shotty ammo with the FN F2000 though..

Make it an attachment, I just realized that you were trying to make the gun itself use shotty shells. The FN2000 is a 5.56mm weapon with an underslung grenade launcher (not fixed, it's a modular weapon system). Maybe there's a way you can make a shotgun attachment to it.

Not investigated making new attachments, and methinks its probably not that easy to make a brand new attachment.

Download another mod and check it from that. They should have it there.

No need, finally started getting somewhere with the trader files, its INSANE that nobody has made a real balance mod for STALKER.

Its not balanced. Whats realistic and balanced about being able to grab the best weapons from the first trader? (a'la all trader mods) people just throw everything in with no regard to balance and gameplay.

FYI there will be no trader balancing I'm afraid people. I figured out what does what but its retarded completely. Allow me to give an example;

ammo_11.43x23_hydro =10,0.2

Now, the first is obvious, the name of the ammo and calibre. "10" refers to how many of this ammo will be sold, in this case 20x10 = 200. So 200 units will be available from the trader. "0.2" refers to how much this ammo will cost, as in the value is 0.2 of 1. 1 being 100%, and anything over 1 being a price increase. Now here is where it gets fucked up and so retarded I want to fucking kill the braindead morons that created STALKER. "10,0.2" should mean 200 units and each unit sells for around 400 something like that. Instead STALKER fucks it up somehow and instead of 200 units @ 400 or so it changes units to like 90 and each unit of 20 sells for like 1600 :banghead: That is why there will be no trader balancing.

*hugs bassmasta* (in a manly non-gay way) that cheered me up :D in fact it cheered me up enough to have a real stab at sorting the ammo count\price issue out, it was a pain in the arse as the 1.0004 patch introduces some real funkyness with trader files, but I managed to fix it! So that means trader balancing is now BACK ON! and more to the point, all trader files have been balanced, prices adjusted and only select equipment is available from each trader. Only one out of the 6 traders sells everything - and at reduced prices to boot ;) about the only things all traders have in common is how much they will buy stuff off you for and all traders sell all types of ammo. Its now also possible to sell much more to STALKERS, some even at higher prices than what traders will give you (basically because I figure in the field, STALKERS are willing to pay more as all weapons and equipment is OSP). Even though its not a direct "buddy" relationship, selling upgraded weapons and ammo to fellow STALKERS can come in very handy, say, your suddenly attacked by mutants while talking to a fellow STALKER, what would you rather he have? an AK74 and Makarov PM, or a LR300ML and Sig 220? ;)

Tip: After selling upgraded stuff to STALKERs they will DROP their old equipment, ideal for picking up and selling to another nearby STALKER who may not have as much money, but be able to afford the discarded weapons.

The mod isnt quite ready for release yet, but this is just an advanced notice, if people are finding it too easy to buy weapons due to being able to make money too easily, or if anyone feels weapon prices or armour are too expensive \ cheap, tell me which weapon \ armour and tell me what you think the price should be

just for the sake of itself, I wanna point out that with 150 kg of carrying capacity, It's far too easy to become a millionaire. I don't know if you took it into account, but 60 kg is coming close to 230 pounds. If I could run around with that on my back, I imagine I'd be rich enough w/out hunting for stuff.

I indeed thought about that, but raised it because most weapons will not net you that much money and when you consider how heavy most guns are, you couldnt pick that much stuff up by default. I could of adjust weapons weight individually, but raising max carry limit was simply much easier :p

Anyway here is 2.45, not much in the way of changes just a lot of description alterations.

well, all the same, I love the mod. just wondering though, how exactly would I go about changing the max carrying capacity? tomorrow I'm going to see how much I can safely carry in a backpack {should be around 15% of my body weight for continuous carrying} and set my guy to carry that.

You can adjust your carry limit by opening the actor.ltx file in the creatures folder and changing the max_item_mass paramater. You will also need to open the system.ltx file up locate the [inventory] section in the file and change max_weight. Heads up guys a new weapon balance mod will be available soon. Corrected a few weapons which seemed a bit unrealistic, namely the BM16 "sawn-off" and MP5 having to be placed in the second weapon slot. The weapons are small and light enough to be able to be carried as a sidearm in real-life warfare.
