Maybe but EA and Valve are based on the west coast. I suppose if the east coast was completely down, the servers elsewhere could get overloaded. As far as I know, it isn't that bad out east. Me thinks a new years DOS attack by assholes.

It's global and websites like Steam are distributed. The cloud itself that hosts it was likely hit by something.

It smells like that cloud bug Amazon had where one server spammed other servers in the cloud until they all ended up spamming each other and not serving any users. I'm sure Valve will get it fixed then announce why the downtime occurred.

No, the Holiday 2013 Sale was ending in just over 12 hours. I doubt any major sale is starting up right after that. Just a regular old weekend sale most likely.

Are those people mad at Phant0mlord again? DDoS sucks, but calling the police to his house and getting him arrested "for the lulz" is just taking this whole "we are anonymoose, nevar forget" crap too far. Steam seems to work down here, but it is ridiculously slow.

Or maybe loads of people are exicted about Age of Empires HD on offer for £3.74... Could be a New Year miracle...
