    Steve Ballmer has just announced his resignation from Microsoft's board of directors, effective immediately. He no longer holds any position at the company he helped start back in the late 70s.

    Thanks for for almost four decades of hard work, Steve. You may have been a controversial character, praised by some and lauded by others, but nobody can deny that without you the industry would be a vastly different beast. If only more CEOs cared less about profits and had more sheer passion for their company and what it was doing. I salute you, sir.

    for the uninformed, Ballmer just bought the L.A. Clippers for 2 Billion, he now owns the franchise that was taken from Donald Sterling by the NBA for racist comments
