maybe this can be a sticky?

Many people have been posting threads asking why their radeon x16xx pro only shows up as having 4 pixel pipe lines. The answer is that this is correct, the radeon x16xx pro has 4 pixel pipes. The radeon x16xx does however have 12 shaders, and for what ever the reason when you buy a radeon x16xx pro the description is that it has 12 pixel pipes instead of shaders.

    so, summery.
If your radeon x16xx shows up as having 4 pixel pipes, it is not defective, that is normal, radeon x16xxs have 12 shaders, not pipes.

Just for clarification, the radeon x1650XT has 8 instead of 4 pipes...

I don't remember how many times this has been put up regarding shaders/pipelines on the X1k series. People are starting to get lazy and never use the search button. But its a good reminder though.

Unless you love shader model 3 and HDR, then no. Performance-wise, possibly.

the x8XX pushes out not very detaild frams rapidly.
the X16XX pushes out detailed frames slower.

each card is good, its just that they are for 2 differnt things.
