Hey all,
After building my computer using the stock heatsink that came with the AMD64 3700+, I used MBM to find that it tended to idle around 30 degrees celcius, which I felt pretty safe at. At top load (prime95) testing it would go up to 38/40, and usually in games it would only reach 35.
But after moving into my dorm (where temperatures are around 3 degrees celcius higher than in my house) my new idle temperature was my old highest load temperature. Now my CPU idles around 38 degrees and at load goes up to 46-48.
Any ideas what could be the problem? I thought that something could have been damaged/moved due to vibrations on the road (especially the cpu/heatsink interface) so I reseated the CPU with AS 5.
