Strange problem when gaming.

Hey people. I have been noticing a problem when I play games and it happens about 30 minutes into Call of Duty 4. I'm playing the game as normal on MP then suddenly my screen goes black then (I'll try to explain as better as I can) my top half of the screen looks like a TV tuning screen (When you don't get a channel tuned in on your TV, your screen is little black and white dots like this.

I think it's the crappy Gecube card.

I should of bought the Sapphire version.

overclocked it? Driver issue? always at the same part of the game?

It came factory overclocked. I don't think it'll be a driver issue? It happens anywhere in games.

According to RT, 38C right now idle. I also have 2 fans at the bottom of my case blowing air onto the graphic card so that's why it's cool.

I have the 8.6 Cat drivers. How can drivers just automatically go corrupt?

I have the 8.6 drivers +hotfix. They are unstable. The 8.5s I reinstalled, and I got more stability. It is the drivers.

i think they are in the beta stages at the moment. I will be downloading the real lot when they come out

Anything that is beta for these new cards is FAR from stable, I would stay away. For the mean time, I am on cat 8.5 till the newer 8.7 drivers are released.

I'm inclined to agree with J Mans first guess. I think your graphics card is crapping out. You should try reseating and insure your DVI connections are tight, but this sure feels like a bad circuit card. Short of swapping out I don't know how you would prove it, though. Great system BTW. I got this problem again today BUT after the TV thing I mentioned, I got a page fault in non paged area blue screen and it said intel.ppm?

I've seen parts arrive DOA out of the box. And I have seen components fail after 2 minutes, 2 months or 2 years. That is why there are Warranties and RMAs. I cannot say to a moral certainty your graphics card is defective. But to rule it out makes no sense.

The above quote is from your initial post. I am puzzled as to why the possibility of a bad card is now an impossibility. What has changed to compell you to now contradict yourself? If you want to try different drivers, then go ahead. You do not need anyones permission. But to dismiss the chance of a bad graphics card is like ignoring the 900LB gorilla in the room.

I have the latest 1.7 game patch for CoD. Playing Crysis and GRID, I've never had a problem. I guess it's because I'm not on Crysis or GRID very long (30 minutes max sometimes) and CoD I'm on it for at least an hour+. So far re-installing my 8.6 drivers, I've not had a problem yet playing CoD 4.
