Hi. Today a message shows up "this beta version is now expired". Throttlestop doesn't start now.
My tablet, which works 24/7 was quickly discharged because of that and turned itself off.
Why to do such stupid thing? There is absolutely no reason to create limit for beta version of this software.

So, i had to change 2016 year to 2015 in system settings. Now it works again.
What such dumbest situation created for?

There is absolutely no reason to create limit for beta version of this software.

The reason time limits are created is because 99.9% of people use free software and do not take any time out of their lives to provide the developer with any feedback. Instead of contacting the developer, they would rather go to the forums, take the time to create a new account at TechPowerUp, and then complain that way. Doing that does not further development at all.

Instead of wasting everyone's time, why not just use Google and download the latest version.

This is free software and it will expire so if that is a problem, do not use ThrottleStop.

Why not direct user to your webpage instead of just expiring entirely without telling user where to get new version?

Don't cry about it, you agreed to the terms of use when you installed the software, either uninstall it or buy it...

Sounds like you want the developer (@unclewebb ) to hold the hand of everyone that downloaded his software

GET REAL lower your expectations

It's not exactly rocket science you know. If app is expired, show message about that and open app homepage. It's not "holding everyone's hand", it's just good programming. Especially if you want to have an userbase that doesn't hate you. Or no userbase because they'll all just leave even if it's the only app that does that.

While I understand your line of thought, I don't think it really works that way in the real world. People are more likely to get irritated and uninstall your software than be coerced into feedback. Frankly, as a fellow software dev, I'll just say it: timebombing sucks.

MakeMKV does this to me. It's a paid program, but the beta is free, so I download the betas. When the beta becomes outdated it produces a message that says the program will no longer work and I have to download the new version. Not a big deal to me.

I understand it as an incentive to pay for a program. But isn't this outright freeware anyways?

if he wants people to re-download the latest version, he surely can do that. Would be nice to pop up with a link to said webpage tho.

Never said he couldn't... but if his reason for doing so is to get feedback, well, I gave mine didn't I? ;)

this is normal behavior on iternet sadly.
i understand you totally R-T-B.

and this: Quote:"My tablet, which works 24/7 was quickly discharged because of that and turned itself off".
tells me you bought the wrong laptop and should not call anybody stupid but yourself.

and Moderators should really change such personal insulting titles, instead of even supporting such questions.
i think unclewebb deserves this.
it s just simple polite manners.

Thanks Moderators for clearing that very quick !
