My 17inch Acer monitor AL1716 just gave out (screen turns yellow). Can you guys recommend me a decent monitor like 19 or 20 inch or sth that wont make my 4870 512mb suffer in game with high setting. Im not too sure abt the specs so pls just throw out your professional ideas. My budget is under $150 tho cheaper is always better :D

Or even someone want to sell me their monitor is reasonable price it would be good too :D

Many thanks

Just lower the resolution of the games thats all. Im running 1680 X 1050 on a HD4200 Radeon onboard and watching blu rays movies at full resolution

You should probably go for a monitor with a 1400x900, 1600x900 or a 1680x1050 resolution screen if you don't plan on upgrading your card in the near future. :) You'll probably able to get a screen with those resolution for about $150 or less. :D Your card will definitely perform well on those resolutions. :D

so i guess my monitor officially gave out on me today. can i have more suggestions on monitors that are not too big that still have 1920x1080 or 1680x1050? I would have bought the LG but it's out of stock now. I would prefer something less than $150 instant discount or before rebate.

another dumb question is that how does 1680x1050 vs 1920x1080 eye candy wise? or can you even notice?
thanks

Since your going to be gaming, get something with a highest refresh rate if possible. Although, its just a suggestion.

1920x1080 is sharper because your fitting 1920 pixels left to right and 1080 up and down.

My old 4870 ran my 24" at 1920x1080 very well. I could still play most games (including Crysis) on high settings with good frame rate. I'll never go any smaller than 24" again:)

I think a 22" 1680x1050 would be ideal for you. 16:10 ftw!!!

I'd have to say I don't recommend a sub $150 acer. Compared to similar asus displays they have poor blacks and my friend's just burnt out after only a year. He replaced it with a similar asus and it was much better.

I run the 21.5" Asus 1920x1080 and it is an amazing monitor. The Asus definately has my vote.
