Delid that bitch and enjoy
I don't need that level of performance.
I really don't even need 4.7 Ghz, but seeing as how I'm using the same voltage that it was auto-using I don't see a real reason to down-step it.

Maybe 5(or more) years from now, when 4.7 Ghz isn't quite cutting it anymore, I might try de-lidding...but for the moment, why void my warranty?

Benchmark Scores I don't even wanna try yet.
My Corsair H105 dropped my Ivy Bridge i5 3970K's idle temp roughly 20 degrees, and max temp about 40 degrees - but that is upgrading from the shitty stock Intel cooler, so YMMV. As far as AIO liquid coolers go though, the H105 appears to be one of the best, and has a solid 5 eggs on Newegg. I don't know if it's ideal for your situation, though.

Honestly, I feel like maybe a strong custom loop would benefit you most... I gather you can build those on the cheap now, and also you can buy them in pieces over time, which would be good since you're on a budget and this isn't time-sensitive. I'm certainly no expert on this though, so if someone with more knowledge on this subject wants to chime in...

Benchmark Scores well I've fried a 775' P4 12 years ago, that counts?
I have a Thermaltake Water 3.0 PRO, arctic silver 5 grase applied, have been using it for like 6 months so far, no problems keeps my intel i7 3770 @stock values in the following temps range:

Thermaltake Water 3.0 Pro with Arctic Silver 5

  • Iddle: 28 min max 35
  • Full load {gaming & Crunching mostly} 58 min 68max,

Stock cooler With Arctic Silver 5:

  • iddle: 45min 48 max
  • Full load {gaming & Crunching mostly} 75 min 82max,

I always try to avoid stock grease, I don’t trust it, only with water 3.0 kit i have used for a couple of months the stock grease, wasnt that bad by the way, a couple of deggres up ...

notes:
despite I hate it so much, I use arctic silver 5 on most of my builds because of availability, its most common to found it here in my country, otherwise I have to order from Amazon / eBay and wait couple of weeks, also it's not that expensive here compared with the normal grey crappy greases that could be found all around ,

This weekend I'm going to delid that dude, and switch from arctic silver 5 to Arctic Cooling MX4, also will use some coollaboratory Liquid Ultra on CPU die, TIM's powered by @Knoxx29 :D
