its not a bad product but think its just a little overhyped, nokia s60 range pwn3s this though.

I agree as well, to a certain extent. However, people will like what they like and purchase regardless of knowing whether another product is superior or not. Take the iPod for example, there are a number of less expensive, fully featured alternatives out there but this has yet to stop Apple from making a killing in iPod sales. What I don't get is why so many people want to bash Apple for having a good selling product, for once, regardless if they think it's good or bad. The majority have spoken and the iPod is here to stay.

OK, nevermind most of that, I think it's a fairly incoherant rant as I'm dead tired atm... :ohwell: :D

cant help but think it wouldnt have gotten so much of a bashing had it been made by a different company with different marketing, but they could have put more into it to justify the price,
but with everyone saying only noobs will buy it it seems like the perfect phone for em as the advanced features would only cause confusion.

an this is slightly off topic but anyone think we need a smartphone section on the forums?

The amazing thing is, apple advertises less than 90% of the other companys.

Remember the shitty LG Chocolate?

Advertised everywhere.

But if you pull up Digg, its everywhere(the iphone). Notice the reviews are all purchased? They aren't even handing phones out.

Why? because people are interested in it!

Leading by example? :)

the LG chocolate is great, its beautiful and has tons of features.

unlike apples products which some people seem to like. apple products just stand out like white shit on a black shoe.. people just buy it for the name.

most apple owners are 10-18 year old girls I bet

You're great at arguing with yourself. :) As for ownership population, you'll likely find a majority of Apple product owners are mostly older than the average PC owner(Look at this forum. How many of you are under 18?). Why? They have a deeper price tag than a PC. Normally it takes a job to afford the higher end items, of which, people are usually more interested in a quality product, rather than a feature fluff'ed product.

If you wanna see a young age group blindly following a platform, go back to your windows Vista. Theres more 10-18year olds on this forum that own PC's than do macs(Though theres an obvious imbalance of ownership on this forum for obvious reasons, most of the very few mac people on this forum are older). Besides, if a girl is willing to learn OS X, thats +10 cool points for me. I only know of one.

I have a olympus digital camera.

It has a feature list 3 pages long.

Does that make my camera better than an iPhone?

Only if you use those features.

Thats why apple products do well. They are engineered around the most useful features, and aren't filled with retarded "hype fluff" of features noone ever uses.

Prime example: Video recording with a 2MP phone camera. Its a useless and retarded feature. Why waste space? :slap:

To appease the masses. I'll admit, a 2MP camera on a phone is nice. Not because it takes good pictures, but because what they have proved over time- ZOMG BANK ROBBER! QUICK TAKE A PICTURE! :D

What does being female have to do with ownership of a mac anyways? Do I smell bias? :wtf:

Just FYI, a large majority of Mac sales are laptops. (And professional use Mac Pro's. Video encoding? Photoshop work anyone?)

http://www.macworld.com/news/2006/10/24/macbooksales/index.php

Almost one million of the 1.6 million Macs shipped in the last quarter are MacBook and MacBook Pros
How many 10 year olds have a macbook or macbook pro? Right. Where do you live? They apparently have too much money.

And I doubt parents just hand a kid a $2k Macbook Pro, unless they're say..... getting ready for college. I personally have much more respect for a female in college using a Mac than I would a PC, from just a "first impression" feel. Not because I'm a mac fan, because they're aware of something other that "lol, windows? Mine are big! And I just got new curtains!"

All of the females I've been in contact with that use a windows laptop are scared of it. My friend that got the macbook loves it. She's willing to try firefox, open office, and other new things like Adium instead of AIM.

I can name just as many that have shitty ripoffs of ipods too. ;)

iPods are in a completely different league from the computer market and cell phone market.

People buy ipods. People buy multiple ipods.

if ipods "sucked" then people wouldn't buy them. (Along with most other products, unless they're just dumb people)

General public says: "we like the ipod!"

And it says the same about the iPhone.

People buying things because of branding is because that brand has built a user base that likes the products.

Why do you buy AMD? Intel? Ati? Nvidia?

The product fits you. If you don't want it don't buy it and quit griping!

Thw world's smallest form of penis compensation.

Make sure you wear your white headphones everywhere you go while struting around in your tight pants and white belt while listening to the latest Hawthorne Heights song. Who cares if you have no class or taste, you're cool.

get it yet? no? ok heres some more

I bought one of these with my saved money. iPods are a waste of space on earth.

1. It holds more songs than anyone will ever own in their lives.
2. It says 12 hour battery life, but lasts for dick hours
3. Limited rechargeable battery - there are only a certain amount of charges you can use and then you have to pay a bazillion dollars for a new god damn battery.
4. Covering scratches easily, and if you don't want the screen to look like a cat was trying to find drugs in it, you have to buy a 50 dollar rubber case that yellows with time.
5. So overpriced for such a piece of shit. $420.00 CDN for it alone, and then a 3-year warranty which bumped it up to $508.00.

Seriously. Go die, Apple.

"Holy crap, you have an iPod! That's so cool! How many songs does it hold?"
"Five thousand."
"How many do you have on it?"
"About 200."
"Why the shit did you get a 20 GB then"
"........I could tell you, but then I'd have to kill you"

its what people think makes them cool.. sad but true

Congratulations, 1,2,3 and 4 are either exaggerated or completely false.
I'm not even going to bother because you obviously believe them.

Let me know when theres something to base that opinion on, other than exaggerated lies.

get it yet? no? ok heres some more

so, unless you have a something other than saying its e-peen, I'm afraid your posts really contain no argument.

The fact of the matter is the product sells. So its only going to encourage more similar products, or improved products.

In this world, something selling well is a sign of approval.

Obviously the rest of the world doesn't approve of the rest of the mp3 player market.

sucks to be in that market doesn't it?

But this thread is getting way off topic... almost, so please don't bother posting unless theres actual content to the post. Compensation is not an argument.

Apparently its possible to get one without a contract..

http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20070630/tc_nm/iphone_att_dc_3

Prepay = win.

I may have to get one in the future if you can prepay the minutes..
