Switching teams! Heading to Intel from AMD and need some advice on a Motherboard.

I'm looking to move to an I5 and need some help picking out a motherboard. I haven't had an Intel chip since 1997!
I've got a buyer lined up for my current motherboard and cpu and have a little cash set aside as well, around $360 all together.That's $360 for the cpu and motherboard. There is a Microcenter 20 minutes from me so I'll be choosing from their selection.

I assume you're going with the i5-4690K so you can do some overclocking? That is $200, leaving $160 for the motherboard.

I suggest the AsRock Z97 Extreme4, the Extreme6 is better but slightly out of your budget. Though it does seem like there are open box Extreme6 at the Cincinnati location for $110, which is a hell of a deal. The open box ones are covered under manufacturer warranty, so no worries there.

I think i'm going with the Extreme 6, if its still in stock on Monday. Thanks for the input. I've purchased tons of open box items from the Microcenter and haven't had any issues.

I ended up getting the extreme 6 for $89 and it has a $15 mail in rebate!

board really doesn't matter all that much for intel just get one with the features you want at the price you are willing to pay
